I think it is time to start my own. And well ... it is time to start drawing some concepts... er ... ok, too much wine for me at this time of the day, so I think I will blab some other time

So this is a little sketch I did this evening.

You r doing good..in that portait..chk out the other part of the face...that cheek ends suddenly..i know its a WIP..maybe u work on it later.

Nice pics you have in here. In that dark portrait the forehead looks very round, though I have not seen the original person (if there is one).
The last body study is very good, keep practising.

Hey! Thanks for the reply in my sketchbook! You've got a good start here!
THe bodystudy is good practice.. I should do more stuff like that myself..hehe...
The forhead on the portrait looks a little round, like stated, and the mouth comes across as a little narrow width-wise.. that because of the shadow you have from the edge of the mouth running back towards the cheek.. seems to push into space, and right outside of the lips there are some muscles that push that area out rather than push it in.. Ehrm.. hope that wasn't too chaotic..hehe.. I'm better at pointing and doodling in order to explain than I am with written words..haha..

Looking good, got some really nice stuff going on here. Only suggestion I have is to watch your pencil and brush strokes, using too many short strokes makes the picture more static, try practicing using fewer lines.
Posting a pic of yourself is an invitation to have yourself drawn, no?

Good clean lines on the last one. Are you gonna take it further?
Critwise, the first two thing that I immediately saw was that her lower hand doesn't seem to interact with the moon.. Looks like it's just hanging in space, sort of.. heh.. And the foot on her outstretched leg reads a bit like its turned with the underside entirely towards us, which would make for a wierd joint in the ankle.. Otherwise it looks good! Did you use reference for it?

dCepT --- Nope no reference at all. Just from head. I think the legs look a bit weird because there s no shading. As regards the hand, you are right, but I think the final look will depend on the shape of the moon, now it is just flat I might try and colour it digitally when I get time, because I quite like that sketch

I felt something probing my brain cells the last couple of nights ‡ welcome the the BoneHeadNation ‡ drop by often ‡ work from life<>memory<> and reference and try to keep a balance <> much to be learned from each <> avoid photo reference if possible (to much distortion of depth)

A Wip. In PS CS. Very first stages, I m not sure where I m going with it yet. I am not really used to CG or to colours .. so be gentle This only like the 4th digi painting for me.

hey foox; you seem to understand the female anatomy pretty well, so start workin on that male! also, you should start using a pen more so you can tighten up your line quality. remember; when you're drawing with pen, you can't erase, so think about every line before you draw it.

On that sketch you're going to paintover, the head seemed okay, but on that early color schemed piece, it seems way too small. May just be some color thing though, not really sure.
One thing I have to say though (no one mentionned it?) is that position would be quite uncomfortable on a skinny crescented moon like that. Twisting her body more to allow both her legs to be on the same side would seem more appropriate and natural.

Hey Fooxoo,
You've got some good stuff going on here. I thought your self portrait was cool - just try large strokes with light and shadow for hair instead of individual strokes and your hair rendering will really shine. I liked the digital painting at the top and the woman on the moon was nice too. Again nice work, keep it up and I hope to see more.

Good to see you update! I have to agree about what's being said about the crescent moon, though. If she is to sit like that it needs to have a broader shape... right now it reads like it's flat.

I like the idea, though.. Looking forward to seeing where you take it

that 10 minute exercice.. that "messy sktching"... that's the best in here!! Really!! Do more just like you did that one, with diffrent positions! Big volumes, nothing detailes!!

On the moon one the left breast should be sagging some more down. It looks unatural now. Most of the work here looks good though. Good Luck.

Nice start with your sketchbook. Try to draw as much as you can and when you paint in Photoshop, use big brushes first to indicate the major forms and then slowly move to the smaller brushes for the details.
