KRONOS I'm guessing he's middle age or something. =/ ADD SOME MIDDLE-AGE WRINKLES like on this forehead or something to make him look older. I'm sorta confused with the green monster thingy on his thumb. O_o; Is that a part of his poster or his hand?

Anyways keep on going, I'll comment on the lighting when it's near done. Just forcus on getting colors in before you blend in =/

Looking good dude, watch however where you have added the green light on his skin; whenever your adding light your adding value. It probably wouldn't be as saturated or even as green as the green lightsource but that's up to arguement, it's possible.

    Anyways, cheers dude!

i've noticed that you seem to have more confidence when working with photos, rather than live models. look at the difference in the pencil strokes to see what i mean.

Haha, that dsg pice looks great. Also, those colour 'studies' you did from that thread you linked are pretty impressive, especially for a noob at it.

ok, heres some more life studies from photo ref

llothcat, most of the "real" ones i did from models were really quick, and in charcoal, and done a few months ago.... i think your right about having more confident pencil strokes, thats due to all these factors. the top one in my last post was actually straight from a drawing (should have mentioned that before). i've been drawing a lot more recently than i was a month or two ago, and i'd say i've already improved.... PLUS!!! working from a photo in some ways is a lot easier than drawing from life as it has already been reduced to two dimensions. that being said i still like life drawing so many times more

Morbid, thanks, and yes i'm a lefty

tullie, thanks aswell, i'll finish the dsg off some day soon, and yeah the colour study stuff is really fun!

heres a face from photo ref, i'm pretty pleased with it, but i wish i'd spent a little longer getting the proportions perfect..... it's been a while since i spent this long( about an hour and a half ) on a pencil sketch, it was fun

please crit the HELL outta this one people

like i said, i wish i spend a little longer on getting the proportions right.....
also i did it with an "H" so some of the lines weren't picked up too well in the scan

Just a suggestion- You should play around with lighting on your t-dome image ^_^ Different lighting can change the mood of the picture. =/

(I gotta do mine too. >.<)

I like the foot picture. o_O; No crtics on that. xP

The last post. I feel you could add in more darker shadows to the guy's face. ^_^

the left of the guy's face looks a bit flat..shading would likely help with it.

The hands need the most work done on them. They just look a bit static. Try to get the lines quicker and freer.
Also your figure studies look in the style of Rembrandt's figure studies, which is a good thing, keep up the momentum

I don't draw many hands or feet at the mo. But when you draw them concentrate on the negative spaces. It is the space between the fingers and toes that defines them and the value of the shading. When I start drawing hands and feet I draw a quick outline/shape and then start defining.
And your latest figure drawings look great btw. O, and remember construction lines, hehe .

watch that cross hatching Kronos, keep it smooth man. All and all the nude seems sound in the proportions except for a few minor issues with shoulders and back. Ghood stuff.

The new stuff is looking great! The only real issue that I'm seeing right now, is a lack of contrast in the newest images... especially the ones out of your head. Your sticking toomuch to the gray scale, try to push more darks and lights.

I really like the sense of style and humor that you put in the pics...

I was having a horrible day today. Until I saw... the scary evil monster on the tricycle... haha. It made me smile. Thanks. I needed that.

I agree with contrast and the shoulder thing that the others mentioned on the figure drawing.

Heya, Kronos: cheers for posting such a great reply in my sb

I think the guy's face is drawn slightly broader than the ref. and his right jawline is sliiiiightly wonky. Still, it's really good for just an hour and a half's work!

the foot looks fantastic. Eeeewwww, it goes through me when veins show up like that. xP From the ankle upwards (does that make sense?) looks way too thin though.

Just a general note: When shading, try to blend the gradients so they're smoother - it's easier on the eye and would look more realistic. Try shading (just on a scrap piece of paper or back on your sb) from one tone to the other by varying the pen(cil) pressure. Your ref. studies (which are looking amazing, btw) would look so much more refined that way.

    Funky character designs~ ^_^

stienmetz, yeah.....um any guidance on the proper technique of cross hatching would be really helpful, they don't teach jackshhh...poop in school. thanks for the crit though

kingcoyote, thanks man, i've just been doing stuff with an "H" pencil of late and can't be bothered working on them with a softer pencil ontop....but i will try do some really contrasty drawing to compensate

    fooxoo, thanks a bunch

SillyLing, glad i could brighten your day

    llothcat, thanks

Quicksilver, thanks, yeah i wanna work on some of the basics(such as "rendering") like i said above, they don't teach you those things in high school

hokey dokey, here is a quick wip for my final in the teen killing machine thingy..... no its not a machine, but meh.....

i finally got motivated with two days to go.....

here is my "final"..... i think.....
EDIT: (just made it a bit darker in PS)

i haven't done shading like this before....so it was kinda weird and doesn't work everywhere....his front leg has problems, and so does the hand with the skull.... but over all, i'm relitively pleased with this....it'll be interesting to see the competition

anything jump out as "bleh!"(meaning bad), please tell me before i submit!

PS:ok, so this isn't really a ps but, i'm kinda anoyed that the original sketch had more energy.... i find way too often my early ideas are better than the finished product

    hi kronos

let me start of with saying that you've got a really nice sketchbook, great imagination, and great rendering of the subjects you do. I wondered, how long are you busy on things like the study of that hand and feet in post 41? I think you must be having fun with doing those studies, because you have shade it so beautiful I like your stuff, and want to see more of it

Hey there, dropping by to say hello. I particularly like the Olaf work, you've done, you have a knack for cartoony characters and it shows.
I'd like to see you try and be more decisive with your lines so that you can improve your line quality and ultimately your body of work.

    Keep it up.
