    More stuff - Dec 06

    NEW ART AT THE BOTTOM!

After a year of silently watching these forums, I figured it was time to post some stuff myself. I don't draw professionally. This stuff is just all random digital sketches and concepts that I do for fun when I have time. I'm still trying to find a style I am happy with. Especially when working in color.

Feel free to offer an crits, comments or advice. I'd like to hear anything! Will try to update often.

My sketchbook is pretty much a Tablet PC that I carry around with me. 90% of this is Sketch Book Pro.

Anytime I am bored I just add another person to the formation, yeah I know some of these guys have no arms!

Older junk, back when I'd try to do one face a day.

Trying to find a style I am happy with for a comic. This wasn't it.

    Obligatory sexy babe pic.

    Web Banner

    Hey Thanks Blahm, Styler, Character!

I don't draw professionally, because I make pretty good money working in video games as a designer. Mostly scripting, rough 3D mesh layouts, and managing people. It's not a bad 2nd choice for a career. I get to play a lot of games!

    O.k. Here's an update.

My World of Warcraft guild disbanded this weekend. I did their old webbanner below

Now a new guild has formed so I need to do another Banner! I began with some idea of a bunch or characters in a charge across a banner left to right. Just drew some character, very much in the WoW style.

I had this old drawing on a piece of paper I did like 7 years ago. I always kind of liked it so I grabbed it as a starting point and began working below

This is were I am now. I tried something very different than my usual style. The Guild logo and text would sit on the left. Not sure if it's done? Any crits or comments please! Colors bother me. I'm not really sure I like it.

    hey cool!
I like this one a lot.
I think the last thing you posted isn't finished yet, I like the colours, but those 'warriors' or whatever they are need more contrast, they look like they're cut out of cardboard and set against a nice sky right now.
So those persons (and the wolf thingie) need to look more real I guess.
    Their shapes are good though.

    greetings and keep going!

Thanks for sharing, but you clearly lack talent. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but c'est la vie, ne c'est pas? The boobs were nice though, but would it kill you to make her teeth white? Jesus fucking christ, what were you thinking?
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

Hey thanks for all the support. I kept working on this some Noë. I didn't want to render the characters too much, but I did play with the lighting on them some, and they contrast a lot more against the background.

I added some sky on both sizes after seeing that the banner they needed was different then what I did. I actually like the longer proportions

The final resolution for this banner's use is like 1/4th the size you see here. So it's pretty small.

and now...uh... this was an exciting way to practice with Sketchbook pro.

ooo wow! i adore the first one with all the guns. man, this is such a great style and would be like perfect if you drew for gamespy.com or something.
i also love the one with the girl&guy's many head poses. you catch expressions very well.

you do most of this stuff on a Tablet PC? what kind is it and is it pretty useful when you're out and about in the city?

This is impressive. I like the way you draw women, not to exaggerated but still sexy. Nice colorpalette too.

    Thanks for all the comments.

MattGamer - I use a Toshiba Portege M200. The screen is a little smaller then some models, at 12 inches, but it supports a much higher resolution when drawing. It has a foldout keyboard. If I could buy over again, I'd get a keyboardless model since I NEVER use the keyboard.

Overall, I like it so much I don't draw on paper anymore. I bought a heavy impact holder that fits over the PC so you can draw with it on, and it can take the bumps when carrying it around everywhere.

SketchBook Pro is pretty much my main drawing program. I haven't found anything that can match the line qualifty when drawing directly on the tablet PC screen. Painter just does not have the same feel.

My computer has been having problems playing "World of Warcraft"... that's a good thing since it means I actually did some drawing rather then played games all night.

Colors and lighting need some work, but still kind of liked it. I've got a comic book on my mind, so everything lately seems to be in terms of how would it work as a comic panel.

Also done like it might be a comic panel.

Everyone seems to have some sort of sci-fi four wheel drive thingie in their sketchbooks... so figured I better get one too.

Thanks Artmessiah and Motives! I'm still not happy with my color work, I want to do color like Bengal!

This is an Avatar I did for myself last night for a Warcraft Forum. About 2 hours with Sketchbook Pro.

So I'm really going to get my comic started! I have the whole story arc mapped out. I just haven't quite come up with a style to draw it in yet. Also I'm not that good at pannel layouts and story flow through the pannels.

The story opens with a crazy fight. This mysterious girl versus an army of baddies. Really the scene is just to establish that the girl is a ruthless, dangerous, special operative; with the training and gear to take on a small army single handedly. That's really all I need to say in this scene... and one other minor detail, which I can't mention, as it would give away the real unique aspect of the story.

So just to get started I'm going to just sketch hundreds of little scenes over the next few weeks and then pick and choose, crop and rework the best ones to create an insane action sequence for the opening.

If you've got any suggestions, crits or links to awsome fight scene reference please send them my way!

    More coming soon!

Couple new things. Mostly working out comic ideas. Feel free to crit. I'm still working out a style to do this book in, and just basic shots I want to use in some scenes.

Couple rough ideas for the same shot. Think I like the middle idea.

    Misc shots

An older piece that I never really finished, kind of finished it, but never really happy with it.
