Thanks for stopping by my sketchbook. I really like what you got goin on in here. All of the studies, character and environment alike are really solid, and show a broad range of talent. I especially like your environments though. I really like the colors you use as well as the lighting. Keep it up. Have some starz.

    color studies

Peter: Thanks buddy, looking foward to oc with you when i got a decent computer
ArtZealot: Thanks mate, you really improved a lot since 2-3 years, nice kick in the ass for someone lazy like me.

K so lets start his page with some color studies and quick paintings.. figure i should kee pushing with enviros since im still really far behind with figures, all my stuff still lack design and cool ideas, learning the technical aspect of art should not prevent you from creating interesting content in your paintings. Reading a lot of books too recently, just finished reading Ala Prima , I recommend it to everyone even if you dont know anything about oil paint.
Crits and tips on what to improve more than welcome !
    week end now woohooo
hmm is anybody reading this anyway ? haha

About the portrait: maybe some harder edges on het cheel and lower the right eye a little? Good painting otherwise. Those b&w PS doodles look interesting, good idea for an exercise.

I haven't been here for a while. Fantastic udpates lately. I really like the loosely painted portrait and that weird cat-fish creature.
Environments have nice texture and brushstrokes but I think they are a bit too saturated. You need to leave the strongest colors for the focal point.

    Keep going.

very nice , enjoy your colors studies , you can't be wrong with those , but i noticed that you use the gesture method in your quick figure sketches , you should use a more soft pencil or charcoal , it will help more then you imagine , funny cat-fish-thingy ^^

oooh I love the colours in that last portrait! I also enjoy those landscapes at the top. Yup, colours looking good there too. Keep practising with them modelstudies. You WILL get better by every one that you do.

Vloth: Thanks for the motivation , i find model study to be really hard, espcially longer pose, its easy for me to loose concentration.. i hope nude drawings every 2 weeks + anatomy studies will get me somewhere.

Monotony: Thanks , always a pleasure to see your stuff and see you here

Giorge: Your right, i used a regular pencil, not really good for thickness variation in lines hmmm willt ry to work on that

Favrus: hey !! hello, thanks for the crit, im a lot more cocnerned about focal point these days, espcially with values but ill try to inclue saturation in the same way of thinking.

    My57: Thanks !
Kidult: thanks man, will take a look at your sb one day when i got time i promise

Walnut: Those exercice are really meant to improve drawing first, line sketching in PS, the values on top are also helping ( i think ) to improve your sense of form. I hope to improve my lines a lot so im working on that. Thanks for the crit, i wont retouch the sargent study cauz i just dont like replaying with old stuff, but ill keep that in mind for the next one

    PieMonster: Thankkkss !!!

Been a while, im really not updating this enough. Lot of work, lack of sleep = no good. Still trying to push some sketches there and there during lunch and when getting back home after cooking dinner heh !

Here are some brushes and values experimentations .. i really like this new brush, it keeps some of the color underneath instead of just glazing over again and again. And some bad sketches
    Thanks for watching

mate, whatever brush you're using in those recent monochromatic paintings is absolutely sick, really tight controlled work. You're packing loads into those moleskin pages too, they look great.

hmm is anybody reading this anyway ? haha
I do ! The enviros are pretty tight and I really like the loose stroking on them.
I think some further gradiation in value and hue would help them get even better though, the water in this one feels flat to me
    http://conceptart.org/forums/attachm...1&d=1236381545
    and totally kills the depth
I think this image is better in that respect:
    http://conceptart.org/forums/attachm...1&d=1236381595

because of the bright values that fade to dark and saturated and then back to bright and desaturated again. The value and contrast changes make for some interesting visuals stuff going on in there.

Alla prima rocks by the way.
