Hey there all,
I am slowly getting back into doing more arework. I spent a good 5 years in school doing art but for the last 7 years I been so busy doing my day job sitting in front of a computer doing 3D animation/FX that I haven't kept up with it. Jumping back in I'm finding a few things out about my "style" and how I like to work, and also where I need to spend more time imrpoving. I think because I've been working in 3D and dealing with technical aspects of rendering an image my art has become more technical. I find that I work better small, maybe half a 8.5 x 11 rather than working loose on a bigger canvas. I also seem to be able to work with value fairly well but not very good at laying in colour. I have been working mostly with pencils, crayon, and some photoshop but love the idea of doing more oil painting and PS work. On the flip side, I can visualize the colours in the scene and have done a lot of lighting for film as well as colour correction. Are there any tutorials/exercises people recommend for learning to see colour and mixing them correctly? How about choosing correct brushes for PS? and keeping it loose?
Cheers - Tiny.
