    the journey

hie people~here's the final image i've made for the spectacular challenge, thanks to all my friends and the participants in the cgcommunity who'v helped me out.greatly appreciated

    the story:

Mother Earth was a beautiful place where living being thrived, but that was another page of history since it was depleted of natural resourse and the ability to provide for the living.Where when it almost come to a breaking point that Earth cannot sustain life, humans however have but limited choice ,one of the more sensible choice,to leave Earth and to fine a new habitable planet to live in.However, the space technologi was rush and wasnt perfected.Human colonies on these ''habitable'' planets looked far from being a civilised nation.though they were living quite well, they were working hard to make their new planet more Earth-like,much like what we remembered it so long ago.Though Earth has been a 'dead' planet to them, people pay homage to her by offereing the lantern of light and hope to her,as if they are moaning for their broken haven

architechtures in the background are bit confusing due to their dramatic difference in design and theres a lot of competing value and colors maybe just do some after effects such as knock some of the values back

I read it as an asteroid and the futile attempt for homemade rocketry to divert it

    I like it.

Wonderful piece...I disagree about the colorscheme. I think it fits the ambience perfectly. It's that end of day mystic mood. And the yellow lanterns balance it nicely. The only thing that could be improved perhaps is the format. Perhaps, it's a bit too vertical with a big void in the middle. Nonetheless, great work. Your best, in my opinion.

    Congrats, Mike.

I assumed it was the "dead" earth as well, but maybe I'm wrong. Either way I really love the emotion in this piece. Great job!

Are you by a chance an Asian or know of a few asian simbols? Mainly because chinese (?) use lanturns like those and those asian simbols look great. The whole piece is quite beutiful in an artistic way (minus the dark mood )

This is amazing. The first thing I thought when I saw it.. was that tradition / festival where people sent the lit paper lanterns down stream on the miniature catamarans. It's executed so well. From what I have seen, you're definately a top pick, good luck!!
