my sketchbook (working on improving my skills)

    Hello everyone,

So here I am starting a sketchbook on this awesome site!
For the past few years I did art as a hobby and would paint now and then in my spare time, but now I've decided to get more serious about it. I had some art classes in school but did not continue with it after finishing school (which is a shame)! I really want to improve my skills no matter what it takes! So please any suggestions, feedback and critiques are more then welcome!
    Thank you!

Hi and welcome to the forum. That first image is beautiful! Good to see you doing a lot of studies as well

    Your landscapes are just lovely.

And I hear you about going back to pencil & paper. I used to be all about photoshop when I first started but I don't think I'll be going back to digital until I'm happy with what I can do in traditional media. Please keep doing digital paintings I can feast my eyes on though.

I'm interested in seeing more of your studies. May I ask what books you use?

We are cups, constantly and quietly being filled. The trick is, knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the beautiful stuff out.

@ NickyBeats, Psychobuddy, BogGnarr, Aragah Thank you guys!
@littlebones Thanks Yeah I jumped into digital painting as soon as I found out about it and pretty much stopped drawing and painting traditionally, what a shame. Now that I went back to traditional, it feels so great, the physical touch and response are irreplaceable. Tho when I would do a mistake I would stretch for the undo button and realize it is not there, it frustrated me for some time but now I got used to using eraser again.
About the books, I have a few on anatomy: "Anatomy Drawing School: Human" by András Szunyoghy, "Die Gestalt des Menschen" by Gottfried Bammes, "Anatomy and Figure drawing" by Louise Gordon and of course "Figure Drawing" by Andrew Loomis.

Haaaaaand studies from life and photo reference! Man hands are killing me, at the moment I can not exactly figure out how to draw them correctly, but I guess it is the matter of practice. Anyway, I am going to keep at it until I draw them with my eyes shut.

I really like the texture of the grass in the big picture on post #12 (the study of the river by the mountains). I have a really hard time with vegetation and I think you pulled it off really well in that piece

Your colour usage is really spot on. Those landscapes and cat still life look like they exist in the real work. Looking forward to seeing more.
