Digital Oil Sketches

Hey, here's some random sketches I've done lately.
I seem to have a bit of a problem; I don't really know how to continue a work after the sketching stage. I know I'm supposed to start detailing after that, but I just don't know where to start.
I like the messy style, so I'm not going for uber-detailing, but I'd appreciate some tips on how to work on them more

This one was about 30 minutes in Painter IX, no ref. or sketching before starting.

This took 30ish minutes as a whole.

This has lots of anatomical errors that I'm aware of.. I got sick of drawing "properly" and just did it really fast without thinking of anatomy etc.
Took about 30 mins. The white colour also should have been more blended into the red, but I got bored.

I need more patience.

I like the first panel in the second picture. Nice costume. But the girl in the last pic has defenitely had her spine broken in a number of places. I'm no anatomy-guru, but that just looks wrong. Nice colours tho'!

you have the basics and they look good.
the next step is to start developing subtleties.
subtleties of form, and color.
the subtleties of form are things like: edges, nostrils, wrinkles, various textures.
if you dont know what the details look like (like most people), you need to find reference.
either, photographed or live.
it doesnt need to be exactly what you are drawing, but close enough to give you some info.

Serpian: Yeah I know, I was aware of the anatomy oddities while making.
I was planning to do someone who was made into a small roll-like thing, but then changed my mind halfway so the spine is still crushed. Thanks for the comment!

if you have trouble moving from the messy base sketch to more defined detail, try varying your brush sizes and opacities. after all, detail normally means that the sketch is tighter, and the smaller the brush, the tighter it will generally be

Are you using a tablet? If you are, try adjusting the pressure sensitivity in painter because most of your strokes are very blocky and don't taper out at their ends. You can change sensitivity in edit > preferences > brush tracking and drawing at a normal pressure with your tablet in the window. I have mine at 0.8 pressure scale and 2.0 pressure power.
