So, i finally finished the portrait i was working on... theres a few things that I know are wrong with it but, its the first real portrait I've done with my new pen technique... I also included two detail shots as request from my homie Sve... The last are some train sketches from today.. Your crits and comments are most welcome..

Note- I am presenting this to you the way the scanner picked it up,, I did no retouching in PS at all.... thanks!!

Wow, vigo, It looks like a real skin, and you showed signs of age on it. Very cool. Thank you so much, I really appreciate your kindness. The first close-up picture is very good as its own piece of art, in the second - great texture of skin, actually all textures are great.
I like the guy in glasses and funny hairdo.

Hey sve- its funny cuz when you look at it in person yu dont see the lines.. they look like what you see in the full version.... but, the scanner is able to pick up the millions of lines I put down with my trusty pen..... Im glad you like it.... i like it too... im going to try and do these at least one per month.. i would like to do one every three weeks or so.... its great practice for me in getting to learn how to manipulate the pen ever further then what im able to do now... thanks again..

Great stuff here! I especially liked the Achaic Priest (sic?) and the bombing squad suit. That last portrait is way cool, too - funny how some ppl claim using ballpens would ruin one's style.

    Hey star,

I really love picture #92 of the face, it looks amazing. The
vaules, highlights and his long beard is really great. One
little little crit. His ear doesnt look realistic enough. I know
what you missing out but i dunno what its called. Its the
muscle that connects to the face. Sorry

    Keep it up man!

Hey vigo, nice book! I like the studies and the imaginative stuff.

When you render, things like loomerskeletoncharacter.jpg and the ones at the beggining of page 1, you have a tendancy to render everything with the same consideration. This makes it difficult for the eye to settle in one place. Try to establish a sort of rendering hierarchy, put it all in the focus area, and the rest subordinate it to the focal area. For example the further away you get from the focus area, the more covered in shadows things could get. Also, don't put details everywhere, put them where they matter (focus area), and leave the rest more suggested or simple.

Anyway hope that helps for something. Really like this book. Keep posting.
    Cheers.

hey guys thanks for the kind words and crits... Broken spirit... Your absoluetly right about the renders... Actually a good friend of mine old me the same thing recently.. and its something that I plan to work on my new project... I didnt realize it till now.... and Im speaking of the lighting not the detailing.. the detailing, Im still kinda trying to figure out my style... I really havent fixed on anything.. i would really like to have a very complex style or even work in two styles.. i dunno.. im just trying to improve on the basics and my technical skills right now...

QXZI- thanks.. i see what your saying... that ear is a tricky thing..

Thanks for posting the closeups of the portrait, damn that's all ball point. The nose looks a little flat, could use a core shadow below the tip. Excellent lifedrawings too.

    Going Vertical!!!!

Holy moly its been a while since i was able to update my book... I havent been drawing as much as i should be but, I have been drawing.. heres a pretty large update... various thngs... the colored stuff was done from ref. some photos i got from the net... Mostly everything was done in marker.. im trying to get that "sinix" look but, make it look vigostarish . Anyhow.. I hope you guys and or gals enjoy some of thes... if anyone wants to see ant part larger I can post a larger version... btw- i've been adicted to these Mr.Sketch markers.. they're mainly used for dry board but, they work great when they are a little dry and they dont bleed so thats a plus... anyways. here it is.. your comments and or crits are most welcome!!! thanks for stopping by!

Hello, Vigostar, I like your street sketches a lot, especially the ones, where you suddenly add colors, strike me. I really amazed with how you feel the colors, their combinations, their hues, very fresh, very unusual. Never saw anything like that here and outside the forum. Well, let's take this little girl bending her body. the colors make her so alive, so energetic, of course the pose itself is very dynamic, but the colors just grab my eyes. The same goes to every sketch you touched with colors. They are immediately starting to look very full of life. I like this drawing of the guy in fur coat. Great attitude and I love the texture of the fur, singer with curly hair is great too, and little running girl, and two women with black hair, and homeless guy. I really enjoy this New York City presentation.
    Very vital.
    Thanks

Whoa, good job with depicting the skin textures.

The fine lines you use indicate that you put a good deal of thought into your sketches. The only problem I see is that your distinct outlines don't go too well with the realistic textures.

Wow, 2006 is finally here.. Time to get busy, bust my ass and finally start putting out some work that i can be proud of! So, im starting with something that Im not so proud of.. These first few images are from the Thunderdome topic-FEAR. I decided to do a montage of a sort and draw up peoples fears.. Clown, spider, rat, atomic explosion, drowning, the dark, snakes and being tied up.. I had some more in mind but i felt like I was way over my head already... well, i hope you enjoy...

This was the one that I didnt get to finish but, hopefully will...

    here are some composition failures
    various sketches

    these are various sketches

Your comments and crits are most welcome.. Thanks for stoppiing by..

Timpaatkins-thanks a mill man... your really too kind... I'll try and update alot this year.. gotta get cracking..

Mattgamer-thanks Matt--- stop by again anytime!!!

Infini- always looking foward to a new year amigo.. good things are going to happen!!

Rob, I'm so amazed, far beyond my human capacities . I just want to hug you to death and steal from your pockets everything I didn't steal from the my first time hugging you one month ago . I feel great looking at your new update! What was you thinking posting them so small. They are gorgeous!!!! You told that you don't like them or something, but I see so much heart and soul from you in every page. Very, very talented work! And they do have a common theme, and I like the idea traveling with my eyes from one human fear to another and think in my mind: "Yes, it's scary, I don't want that to happen to me."
I have trouble to choose which one is better. I love them all, and that's not that ass patting, which makes me sick just to pronounce it, I'm really excited looking at what you did. You are so precise in choosing what and how to tell your thought to a viewer.
Tried to choose one that I like the best. All of them! I'm amazed how clear your message is in each of them and how they all connected somehow with each other with style you chose and with this manner to tell the story. Every image is like an uppercut in box. Short and powerful.
Well, I can't dissintegrate your drawings as I usually love to do. The impact from them is unified. So I can only say that i love them. and you stole my first impact by posting them small.
Love every collage too, very beautiful and enjoyable to observe, all these shades.
Unfinished scene of the rape is very expressive, like a scream, in style with every other piece.
Explosion is great and powerful, the illusion of to the sky arisen mushroom is huge.
Hand in convulsions searching to be saved is very, very scary and vivid.
Darkness, spider, rat, clown, I love it all and every piece is pure gold.
Hugs again and taking all the remaining stuff from your pockets.
    Thanks, a lot

Rob- I'm supposed to be sleeping but I MUST tell you how great this update is. It's great..g'dnight

Ok - first off if you just submitted the clown - that would be enough for me
It's great..one of your best..and it stands alone. The range of values is great...I love it. It's such a sicko idea which makes me believe you are letting go a bit and really delving deeper. how awesome is that ?!

Also, the spider... excellent. I am super impressed that you were able to distinguish clearly in your rendering the soft hairy parts vs. the hard exoskeleton parts. and in pen no less...bravo sir!

also..the unfinished rapeage....that's the best face you have done in my opinion. Could you improve any more in just one post? 2006 baby....2006
it's your year to stretch grow and discover the artist you wanna be. I'm psyched as hell to see it happen bro.

    Cheers to you...
