Kronos it is very unclear. But it works just for the color combo alone.

My best for the past week.

Kronos, your attempt is really appreciated and since I'm also late on this thread I'll just say that your painting is radical....I like the "fallen angel"-ish look, it's got pathos

Well that's unfortunate, I didn't even know my SSG has been dead for quite a while lol.

If I attempted this last year I don't think I would've been able to comprehend all those edges

Well on the attempts to bring this thread back to life, here is my best of the week.

please do check out (and maybe even crit, or comment) my pieces... it's a very lonely thread.

    anyhow

    quick critiques, hooray!

bengonzales: I have a certain love for dutch angles, but make sure to watch out for your perspective when you do draw it. Think of his body parts as spheres, cubes and cylinders. That way it should be easier to visualize the perspective on it.

Kronos: Hah! it looks like a really angry dwarf. Not bad!

Marjolein: I like this cartoon. It really makes me feel...apathetic!

darkwolfb87: very nice lines. I visualize it with light and shadow, and color too! Very nice. I would love to see more!

talmir: Sorry for taking so long to reply, but thank you. I guess you could say it's a troll. When i drew it i was thinking of some lonely creature finding comfort in something beautiful. I guess it does look like a troll. Your 3d work is amazing. Im learning maya, and with my knwoledge of art and form i still can't get anything worthy.

Well, this thread is a good idea, and clearly needs more attention.
Iconophobian: Well, i dont really think i could crits any of those two pics. They look great...but maybe the second one could use a bit of shading on the undershoudler(?) area. It should be really dark in there...i think

didn't feel good enough to actually post in this thread. anyway, i take all my courage together and put a drawing in here. gonna tell my sketchmates to post here, too...

it's the one i'm most happy with this week. it's a rather quick sketch from watching "once upon a time in the west", but i kind of like it...

Gonna try and be more regular in this thread!
Heres the best of last week, self portrait which came as the result of a long session of master studies figuring out some issues I had with rendering...

Stine- Nice, like the blue pencil. Dont be afraid to kick the contrast up more though, develop more form in the shadows.
Kresh - Cool design, dont be so reliant on using white in all the highlights. You wouldnt do it in paint and you shouldnt in pencil either.
Recursive_End - One of my favorites of your recent works, one thing that bugged me is that the shapes on the left guy's face dont follow the form as well as the other guy's, look rather flat.

I think this is my best this week, mmm hmmm. Crit away.

Sirgreensock: definitely feeling the light fall.

Stine: mmm good feel with that blue pencil, aside from contrast maybe save soem more whites...oh wait thats part of contrast too *kicks himself* lets have another.

GreenSock: I like the feel of the SP. The rendering looks quick and has a lot of movement to it. I just want to ask how old are you. I'm going with 18+. If you don't have a baby-face then it looks like you used a pic from when you were a kid. I'm not sure if I'm right but your eyes may be positioned too high and you haven't given enough room for the nose. Edit: I'm really stomped on what bothers me about it. but it feels like you squished the proportions on the face.

GrayPencil: Very nice. Quick bold lines and the shading captures the form of the body. The lighting of your Photo is the only thing that i can crit on this. Try and use a brighter light source.

So then this is me for my best recent sketch about 20-30 minutes on each of these ref studies.

thanks ben, I was quite unsure of that drawign when i first finished it but after getting home fromt he lfie session it dont look too bad. Just taught me that I shoudl always try something new

the placement of the head+neck on the 1st figure is offset to his. no biggie since the point i gather was to study developed musculature? I think your study intentions are achieved anyway so

Hello, I'm new to this forum and website. I started a new thread, but in an effort to get known, I'd like to comment more. Since I'm just getting back into drawing (currently a med student), I don't have many current pieces to show. Most of my drawings are on my blog. But here's one of my completed from 2003. It is also posted it in my sketchbook thread. Any suggestions/comments are more than welcome. Thanks.
