Brilliant stuff man! There´s not much of that cocky things that impress a lot of people but are good for nothing; this is solid actual knolowedge, great work on those core shadows.

    Thank you Lennon and Seaport.

A Christmas present for my mother. Far from perfect but it looks like her. Trying to do likeness of
your loved ones is so hard but ultimately really rewarding. Happy new year everybody!

    Heya Mikko,

Really excellent technique. Great linework, brushwork, value and
    color judgement, and building/blending.

Great memory of anatomy, blends seamlessly with your technique.

How about some landscapes or man-made objects? Like to see how
you are doing with hard edges, geometric forms, depth in space.

On your work from memory/imagination: work on using light and shadow
to show volume. You are getting a bit of the bas-relief effect. The
details pop but the overall form feels flat.

Not sure what your rate of work is, but I suspect you may be spending
rather a lot of time on individual studies and not enough time doing basic
drawings and gestures. How much are you working on a daily or weekly basis?

"I have a really bad tendency of rendering things into boring death" Sometimes. Yes.
What is your solution? I recommend prioritizing. The eye does not linger on every detail
of a properly constructed and composed image. Look at some John Singer Sargent. Or
Mike Mignola, or Alex Toth. Not saying you have to be a minimalist, just focus your effort.

Great work, again. Keep it up.

This my friend, iis a really great book, just as your sb. I love your studies and effort. ( especially the cloth study, cool stuff) If you read this book, and watch those videos from mr sheridan I ve postet on my last side, color will fear you, not the other way around. Even if you are a digital painter, you can apply his process on getting accurate skin tones on your stuff. I am sure. But beware, ... that's 6hrs of material. But it does not look like you are unskilled when it comes to color. However, we have to master it anyways to get really good. Let's roll up our sleeves and get to work. Thank you for stopping by Mikko.

AckermannPhilip Those videos look great. Will have watch them when I have the time. Thanks for the link.

Color studying. Not finished. But I'm kinda beginning to get somewhat wasted so it will probably not get any better today. There's just something about frogs...

Nice hands, some of them are getting a bit 'chunky' but I absolutely love the expressiveness
of the strokes, especially the outlines. Just remember that the hand isn't just a collection of
shapes, it has a flow, a gesture, just like a full figure has. Also try to find an overall graphic
shape and major blocks of value, don't just concentrate on the details.

all of that is nitpicking BTW, they are awesome

Just something about frogs...they are shiny?

More creative work! Application application application.

How about an illustration or a character design? You can do it.

Bludhund Haven't thought of the gesture of the hand before. Definitely will have to keep that in mind in the future. Thanks again for the advice,
AlexTooth So would I my friend. So would I. I'm just having a lot of trouble coming up with anything worth finishing.

Thanks HumbleHenk and Lakai for the kind words. Much appreciated.

I noticed that I really don't like drawing girls. But this SB is starting to be too gay. Have to balance it out.

Really great stuff, there is a huge leap from post to post on this page. Your studies are looking less flat and more bold. Using some broader, more fun strokes is a good thing! And it's working for you. Oh...and AWRSOME pencil studies, ( of course)

Yeah, I agree on that - the nudes are beautiful.

I really like your lines and shading. Do you intentionally make your strokes only into one direction or did you "master the skill" do set all those tiny lines to the right direction during a rapid wrist/arm/shoulder movement?

Thanks LastGen. I did a lot of cross hatching practices in the past. I personally love the way cross hatched shading looks. It has a lot more character to it than for example shading blended with finger. Rapid wrist/arm/shoulder movement sounds dirty.

    Wow.

Crazy improvement man, spectacular progress really.
The studies seem to have made their job quite well so far. I really like your line and definition of form, the naked ladies and the hands look freaking awesome.

    Really inspiring, keep it up!

Must say the same thing - WHAT a change from start to finish. You are accelerating. Keep up the actual physical practice.
Looking at the beginning of your posts, was going to comment that you need to keep going because I could see you had it in there. And by the end - its starting to appear. You got it happening.
