jubilee's scribbles, NMCB & DSG entries.

ok I tried this last year and it fell apart due to time constraints. lets try this again

brief bio : did a considerable amount of artwork in my youth but it fell away when I graduated HS. I hadnt drawn much more than a doodle for 17 yrs until picked digital art up about 3 yrs ago again but I felt that my sketching was suffering considerably.

I am in the process of scanning in my current stuff

    soOOOOooo...

starting with some of last yrs stuff..

most are done with some kind of ref.. some arent.

Never put the name of the person by their picture, in order to show confidence in your ability. Studying perspective helps clean up and focus your drawings, I think that's where everyone starts. Is Jubilee a reference to X-men?, if it's not then you've got a cool name.

lol guess that shows two ways of thinking I put the names there so *I* dont forget who the pics are sposed to be months later. My short term memory aint what it used to be *wry smile* In either case though I'll drop the names from the scans.

-armando : yup its the x-men name . Its also a play off my real name (Julie) people in my life have nicknamed me. I've been called jubilee, jellybean and dewey (which I really hated).

gonna add a few of the things I've colored from the New Media Coloring Book here (in order of date completed):

    2004

Nice start to your sketchbook. I would have to say to practice your anatomy, structure, form, all that stuff. Some of your faces have a slant to them, too. Other than that I think that you have some really good stuff here. The elf head is particularly nice.

I noticed that and it really bugged me. I think it had something to do with the way I was holding my sketchbook. they looked perfectly fine until I set them down. I've shifted to laying on the floor (I have no desk to speak of ehehe) and since then I think they've improved.

another cute and fluffy thing. I promise I'll start drawing slimy half rotting things eventually

    - armando : my web service has been really unpredictable this week for some reason. though they seem to be working now.

    - that fat kid : I could never get used to an easel. My HS had a couple to use for oil and acrylic practice and I just couldnt keep my hand at that perpendicular angle for that long. But oh I had a really nice drafting table once. Got sold during one of our moves. As for the pup, yeah I probably used at least a 4B. I have a buffet of pencils I like to use. I used anything from an H to a 5B on this next one of my 100 feet.

This would be my thirteenth foot. that sounds omnious right? Well its better than half rotting. Its entirely desiccated

lol yeah. I have this little button here 'undo' that I use liberally and its a a very freeing thing I've actually had urges to reach for the undo key while doing pencil work. is that bad? :/

    more DSG :

923 exorcist tea party. something I hope to finish at some point

924 woman in extravagant battle worn armor. though it was sposed to be scifi oriented

Squirrel ninjas is too funny! That would be a good idea for a twisted children's book, or something like that. Compared with some of the other pieces that you have in here, the squirrel ninjas isn't as good, as least in my opinion (so don't hit me) and it would be cool to see this done with the attention that you gave to the black and white dsg. You captured the atmosphere, the feeling of a cold winter night in the city just perfectly. By far, my favorite in here. The steam coming out of the grating is a nice added touch. The girl with the washboard is nice, too.

thanks madplanet. Yeah the squirrels could probably do with some more love. Although most of my DSGs are in one state of unfinished-ness or another.

more life studies. did some cleanup in photoshop so I could weed through what I might have accomplished. trying to unlock the mysteries of the human pelvis

    hey Jubilee,

well, i first have to say that i love the woman in white. the effect of her eyes against the paleness of her face, as well as the prodominate, almost snow like swell of whiteness has quite the interesting effect. your exercises are great, and i cant wait to see what else your going to put up. these are the makings of quite a good sketchbook. keep practicing on the painter, and dont forget the advantages to a superior light source for your subjects.

    Cheers,

    Woodruff

hey thanks azeira. some days I wish I could just download the entire compendium of human anatomy and 'get to the good stuff'.

some days though, oddly enough, things do go right

something I did for my husband after he subtley suggested he might like it. like.. four times. its perfect too in that its got no hands or feet to muck up

colored this for a friend. wasnt sure if I should be stickin this here or not but its something I am pretty happy with

I'm not much of a still life kind of guy, but those calender fruits and things are just great. I can't even tell you which one that I like the best; they're all good. I really like the mountain scene, too.

thanks for visitin madplanet I'm glad you like the digi-fruit. I hope the calendar goes over well.

I am so slacking for scanning. I got a little tiny sketchbook that's got lots of new stuff but I am lazy... and really a lot of it is crap

scanned the crowd for faces at a concert for my kids I recently attended. these are what I'd consider my best. the one with the tongue out peeked over the seat at me. I only got the briefest look.

MTG stuff. sposed to be learning the game.. but I cant stop drawing the cards. husband is not amused.

not sure how this got in here

another thing from the NMCB that I may never get around to finishing. lines by evildisco.
