*Ahem*...I guess I understand what you meant by "nose to nose" a little bit better now! Great stuff Dudders, your rendition of Aly was just as I suspected him to be... funny thumb, double chins and all! Give 'em 'ell in the challenge, Lord knows I couldn't in the Thunderdome.

CRAP!!! That COW entry has caused me to regret my sensless goading...damn you! damn you...

I haven't got a double chin! A kinda funny looking thumb, I admit... but no double chin! See what you've started Duggblebuggler... You've just allowed Dixon to goad you, you weak willed lily livered panderer... er....

The one with the girl on the car giving fire to the gladiator guy seems to be drawn in a quite different style (more realistic). I really dig this one. That's a story-tellin'-picture. Would like to see it coloured.

    Good work man!

Posh...don't worry about it. Double chins are quite common and nothing to be ashamed of. I imagine if you would lay off of the extra helpings of bread pudding it would help... I mean you know what they say..."bread pudding goes straight to the second chin"... uhm...ok, so maybe I made that up... but I'm sure someone... somewhere... has once said that (besides me right now).

Very very cool stuff. You have a very whimsical charm to your pieces that make it fun to look at. I apologize if this has been asked already, but where did you do your art training if any? Also, About how long did it take you to finish the sea creature? Looking forward to more of your posts!

Sorry i haven't done any replies for a few days... i've been dead busy!

I thought i'd post these WiP images for my COW... It took me two to three hours (during my lunch hours at work) and is actually pretty rough, but i was aiming for something that would be pleasing at the target resoultion. You might also be able to see how it started out as a different concept with a smiling mouth and eyes where the nostrils are... but when i checked the thread and saw Nighfend's and Hurricane's fantastic entries with submersibles i changed the whole thing!

There's been a bit of a crazy debate about whether this qualifies as 'concept' art (or if it's an illustration) on the COW thread... but hey... i think it's concept art... and an illustration!

I'll post some replies in the morning. My baby, Daisy, is due a feed in 5 minutes so it's off to bed...

More sketches to come soon... thanks for all the kind comments...

I realy love all your work ! You've got a quality there that I rarely see.
All your drawings/ paintings evoke a warm feeling, almost make me happy. I've almost never had that when looking at other people's stuff.
You're one of my fav artists, without a doubt !

    You RAWK! ! !
Your apes look AMAZING!!! (I wouldn't shout like this, it's just that it's very impressive stuff).
Your style in general is awe insoiring, (but I don't like the drawings you've shaded with pencil. That doesn't really work for me).

Wanted to reply to peeps and say thanks for popping by. The point of this sketchbook is to motivate me to try new stuff and get better at the stuff i can't do so well... The next stuff i need to get done is my highwaygirl for my contest against Aly 'Poshspice' Fell (aaaArgH!?) and my piece for the 'Spectacular' challenge on CGtalk. I wanna push myself and try new techniques on both of those pieces and i'll post all the WiP here...

    Anyway... i'm rabbiting...

DeNyed: Cheers! The conveyor piece seems popular. It was an environment concept for an ET game. ET had to get from one end of the conveyor to the other without colliding with any of the obstacles coming down the conveyor... a bit like Frogger turned 90 degrees! Unsurprisingly, The ET game didn't get published...

MrCrowpsey, Nutter: Cheers! Loads more to come on my 'Spectacular' thread...

Quinster: Thanks! Expressions is something i want to push myself more on... i noticed the other day that nearly all my characters have their mouths closed. Hmmmm.

MIKECORRIERO: Cheers Mike! I'd agree with you about the fine tuning. Most the stuff i do at work has time pressures that call for quick(ish) concepts, but the two pieces i'm working on and mentioned above ('HighwayGirl' and 'Circus Spectacular') are gonna be much more finished...

Slash: yeh... He's a funny one that Poshspice... he really has got a hearse you know...

mr. Point: Thanks! 'Ye Pirate Muncher' took me between two and three hours. It's very rough when you get up close to it!!

Sundance: He has got funny thumbs y'know... there all big and knobbly, which he assures me makes bunny handling a whole lot easier. I'm gonna try and give him hell... but he's awfully good at colouring in the ladies... we'll have to wait and see...

    Poshspice: It's not a double chin!! It's just a 'pressed-against-your-neck' chin!

Yodaah: cheers! I'd like to work the gladiator illustrtations into colour... time permitting. (And keep on at the COWs! Don't let this week's tussle put you off!)

LightBrownboy: I did a degree in Graphics years ago (finished '93)... but it was a bit rubbish. Didn't use a pooter until 1999 when i bought a Mac and landed a job in the games industry with some Don Quixote illustrations. I was a secondary school Art teacher before that. Still learning. I wish the internet had been around when i was a teen though... that would have changed my life i reckon...

ZebzFree: Cheers#! Everyone's got an imagination. It's just jotting it down that's important!

gibsini: Thanks! I use Photoshop mainly... the Pirate Muncher was done in PS7. But i'm learning Painter!

That fat kid: haha... well i call it a concept!

Art_Addict: Cheers... and i'm really gald mi pictures make you happy! I hope i can keep entertaining you...

Hilbruks: Ta! I'm hoping to get more Monkey Girl stuff done. But there's tons to do first. Which particular pencil pieces, out of interest..?

    Rudeone: Ta!

shyamshriram: Thanks... i like looking at WiP's so i thought it's only fair to post some... and show what a shambles my process is! haha!

os4 la gune: the kid on the bike is another picture i'd like to colour... not enough time in the day.... *sigh*...

More sketches later in the week! Thanks for looking!

Hey Duddlebug! I really like that second Highwaywoman sketch! It has a lot of promise, but as you have stated Aly is a master of the female form. Best of luck, and congrats on the COW, your entry was leaps and bounds ahead of the others (and a very solid concept to boot). I must admit though... I had some... bad thoughts... when you said you finished that in three hours...
