    Some Photoshop Creations

Any noob with Photoshop can create something with enough filter effects to burn your eyes out. To make halfway good pictures takes more work, but, they still almost scream "FILTERS!" Nevertheless, some are worth sharing.
These have no place in FF, CC, SWIPs, or the Lounge, so I thought we could put them here for our "Show and Tell" Refridgerator Page...

Here are some Photoshop Pics I've done. This one was playing with various filters and adjusment layers,

This was just a KPT fractal that I thought looked cool...

    More filter frenzy...

My fellow friend, one suggestion. Don't rely on filters ever again for your compositions, it's a pretty sucky way to make stuff. Play with the layer blending modes, the layer styles, adjustment layers (kick ass!), the type settings, pen tools and that stuff! also play with the brush tools (& options), they just kick ass!

    Greetings!

Half the fun of learning Photoshop is abusing the filters...

Anyone whose ever started learning PS plays with the filters. I'm still a sucker for KAI's stuff. Fractals rock, so does Sinedots...

No, it's worlds away from concept art. Production art, possibly. Using to tools to get the job done...don't know for sure. I just know that playing can come in handy at some future point...

I find filters useless unless you are using them to create some sort of texture, or to create an abstract effect.

"there is no make crap art good filter"

only use them if your prepared to make it look like you havent used them.

    Excellent link, Evil!
There are most definitely some filter masters out there. I never claim to be a master anything. I merely enjoy playing with my electronic toys, and am blessed enough to not have a fixation for drawing manga or teddy bears...lol!
The Photoshop area is for Photoshop topics, y'all. That's why I started this thread. You can stick your noses high up in the air and sniff how there's no place in the universe for this type of stuff, but regardless, there are plenty of members who DO play with filters, for better or worse. I don't claim this to be fine art, but some of you LOVE to put your drama spins on it. That's not why this thread is here. It's just a place to put Photoshop playthings in. Is that SO hard to just relax and let people enjoy? Sheesh...

Part of making it look like you haven't used filters involves practice. Part of practice is feedback. In case you haven't noticed, there are specific parts of CA devoted to feedback....ask me, I moderate one.
This is where people can post their Photoshop "SWIP's" okay? Helpful tips, links, etc. are always appreciated. Just being insulting isn't.

You just need a light hand and a lot of layers to use filters. I used quite a few making this pic:

"Undermine their pompous authority, reject their moral standards, make anarchy and disorder your trademarks. Cause as much chaos and disruption as possible but don’t let them take you ALIVE"

The difference between "playing" with filters and knowing to use them as another tool producing art is shown very well between madsters images and KSS...

There is nothing like composition, color theory, contrasts, story, design or an artistic base at madster's images.

All this you can find on KSS...

well something i learned from the workshop is that "there are no rules in conceptart".
So if u wanna use filters go for it, just make sure ur pic dun "scream FILTER" like madster mentioned. However if u wanted to avoid that madster, i think u failed.

I think a good comparism would be smudgin on pencil drawins, if it's used from a pro it will make beautifull pieces then again used by a novice it will look horrible and unskilled. I think staying away from both smudgin and over use of filters is a good way while u'r startin, u can always come back later to em.
But since there is no right or wrong way to improvment all that matters in the end is that u find a way to get into ps, drawin or what ever.

me didn't so much use filters to create these, more so me used the liquify tool (mirror function, drag, partial reconstruction, bloat, shrink etc), the clone tool, and the saturation/desaturation, blur/sharpen brushes.

me used to scan in drawings/paintings and make abstracts out of these and print them out giclee on canvas. But since I gave up to a great degree on abstraction since I joined CA my try and create representational art sometimes using shapes and stuff.

me also use variations function for deciding on colour for these fuckers, its cool cause you look at each thumbnail in the variations and say well that looks even fucken cooler then the original. Of course this is done in my weaker moments when I had enough of learning anatomy and form and my brain is sphinctered for ideas. As for filters I find not much good can come of them, but ... never say never.
