need some help with a color scheme

hello, my first post here, what an amazing place. I could spend hours just looking at pictures and reading stuff (...wait I just did that...)

now my "problem"...

I scratchbuilt a miniature after this concept art:



I used the left one's pose and made him a bit more bulky and additionally gave him the right one's "spikes" on his back. you can also ignore the two tentacles coming out of his chest, replaced those with a pair of claws.

anyway...how would you paint those? I want to give him an organic, alien look, with some striking contrasts (I thought about painting the spikes black, and red towards the ends, but I am pretty open minded there...)

any thoughts and ideas are welcome...

ah yes a warhammer 40k.... ---->tyranid, my fav.

my nids are painted in the colours of bugs, brown with a bit of yellow on the ends, and scales are black to green....
look at diffrent bug-pics! trust me it helps....

no matter what coulers you use remember, (the great devourer want a meen bug! )

check out color schemer studio. It is an awsome program that gives you a bunch of colors that just work together. It might be useful.

I'd say purple, black, and dark green for a cool set or browns, reds and oranges for a warm one.

That's a nice-ass concept sketch. Can't wait to see the finished product.

he didnt make the concept scetch.... it was made for the 3rd? 4th? edition of tyranids in WARHAMMER 40K.... but cool scetch anyways...

here's the "finished" model (the feet needed some work back then and also the arms were just put on the torso for the pictures)

I know it is nowhere the quality of the stuff you get to see here, but oh well
