    Arrow Miniworkshop Brussels discussion thread

(it's all over now, baby blue)

    Fellow Citizens of CA.org,

I'm pleased to announce the new Belgium Miniworkshop!

following up on the Ghent miniworkshop last year (of which you can see some pictures and drawings )
only this time, place to be will be Brussels.. new sights to see, more room to stay

    the drill:

    Brussels, Belgium
August 5th (evening) till august 7th

yes, it's a weekend. yes, it's a rather short time. yes, you're welcome to stay a bit longer if that suits your traveling plans better.

now, the good news for happy people: we'll be housing all participants (unless you'd rather stay at a b&b :p ) ourselves, so this weekend will be CHEAP!
the idea is that we combine all costs for food, drinks, model fees and tickets to sights, and then split that evenly. We did it like this last year, and ended up with a 27euro/person bill.. how cool is that huh?

    what's on the program?
I like to make this weekend an as-action-packed-one-as-possible. Meaning drawing drawing drawing, and maybe some painting or whatever you like. There'll be model drawing for sure, probably 6 to 8 hours worth. We can have mini thunderdome sessions and whatever fun&games you can think of.

now, I'd like to hear from you what kind of activities, next to lifedrawing, you'd like to do, so please shout here!
to give some ideas: there's architectural sights worth sketching, art museums from all era's worth seeing, nature/historic museum (think dino's.. belgium has worldwide fame when it comes to digging up dino's), military stuff, and the more typical tourist attractions of course.

I need people who are interested in joining up for this, to drop a line right in this thread, so please reply with a "hell yea count me in", "definitely maybe yea", "maybe, but it depends on..." or "i can't, but thanks for asking "

i'll be posting updates here as soon as this plan comes together in a more solid kinda way.
in the mean time, ask away!

Uh - Hell yeah i'm in.

Gogogogogogo! Figure drawing & cultural stuff + things. I'm there.

Hey, on stuff i'd like to do - maybe someone can provide some casts & bones to draw? These things are hard to come by and should be very helpful. Like the cast of the facial muscles Loomis has in his Figure Drawing book.
    Museums are good.
Also i'm there if you want to party.

about the sleeping places: if you can, please bring some stuff like fieldbed, airmatrass or bag of hay and a sleeping bag.. we have enough room in the house (even a nice cellar for you vampires out there) but not a lot of extra beds. the private spare room is taken by the dynamic B+G duo, and i'll keep the extra bed for Slash, as he's flying in and i wanna spare him the extra weight to carry.

i'll update the list of participants in the first post as we go btw

I don't own a drivers license myself, but if anyone could pick me up in Mönchenggladbach or somewhere close, i'd rather give them the money than the german railway bastards (tm).

Hi John O. - I think Mönchengladbach is on my way down to Belgium so we could arrange something. Let´s PM!

Hyver, I´ll look if my wife can borrow me some of her skulls and stuff again, details in IRC.

My offer about a lecture about the physics of arms and armour is still open (and I´ll promise not to do anything longer than an hour )

I just got paid for my first commission. And that alone is enough to pay for the plane tickets. So im transferring money to my father tomorrow, using his visa to buy the tickets. (can you believe it, the bank didnt wanna give me a visa card. )

So yeah, im there darlings! And i might be staying there till the 8th.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

//edit: If i could use one of your airbeds i would be most grateful geertje. That would save me alot of trouble and a bad back.

i thought maybe a litle information of brussel would be nice, heres the website of the community itself, tho its dutch http://www.digitaalbrussel.be/agenda/index.asp
In short, there are loads of modern art and artists museums/exhibitions. There are many modern architecture exhibitions. Theres the war museum, theres a couple of exhibitions about art nouveau style and by the goverment of celebration of belgium as a country, theres an exhibition overload from the romance period.
There's an old cityport from 1381 open for visitors, filled with architecture and weaponary. Only on appointment, so if we want to go we need to call in advance. http://www.kmkg-mrah.be/images/image.../exterieur.jpg
    churches ofcourse.

    Museums: http://www.digitaalbrussel.be/thema/...usea/index.asp
    visual art: http://www.digitaalbrussel.be/thema/...ende/index.asp
    architecture in brussel: http://www.belgiumview.com/brussel/

I'm interested in a lot of things, so everythings fine with me
