    Transitory Sketch Book

GO TO LATER PAGES FOR NEWER STUFF!

Hey all. First post here, kinda intimidated by all the skilled artist and the ammount of them too. Hopefully I can get some attention and help to help me improve too. ^^b

Here's some stuff to start with. I'll get the sketches going soon.

UDPATE : Rawr I'm back! You'll find lots of life drawings as you go down. There's a pinch of weirdness amid them too and at the end is new sketches and wips and quickies. I've got a few portraits to show... but I'm saving them. ^^

    ENJOY!

    Nice work

I like your work. I would like to see more, and some shaded or textured stuff... the oni is great... put some color on him... the characters on the couch don't look like they are comfortable, like they are about to fall off.

Show me some color! looks good.

    Nice.

Here is what I suggest you do: Of course, more life drawing, but actually going out to a cafe, or what have you, and drawing people. Draw yourself in the mirror, draw your friends, your family, pets, anything. During this, practice your anatomy from books, life drawing, photos, anything you can get your hands on.

Also, push your values some more, right now most of your sketches seem to be flat, in terms of shading. Get some contrast in there!

But anyway, you seem to have a good grasp over your pencil, just practice some more and keep posting.

    Good luck.

    Wee for comments!

Aexo - I got a few old colors. Gotta finish some wips or maybe can show you em here. Shading yea I'm not that good at it yet I jst got one pencil dunno how the pros manage it.

incognito - cafe eh? I live in suburbs... the cafe there sucks doesnt have the mood. People say I should try shading more and stuff. I'll work on contrast but the ref pics don't offer much.

Here's today's page... a bit later since I was with friends... its hard enough just to draw a page...

Back to sketches... since I watched a film instead of drawing I'll catch up with 2 sketches... tried a foto found on net. After seeing Sleepy Hollow I just wanted to draw Christina Ricci. Didn't work out but yea I won't stop yet.

The Christina Ricci one is very nice, good volume achieved through shading.

I like what you have here. I agree with what some of the others said about adding some tone and more shading, but having said that, I kind of liked the ones that were just line drawings. They have something about them that looks good like that. The color piece is good, I liked it.

If you want to learn anatomy, and every artist should, check out any thread by Mentler. He is amazing. I should make it a habit to take a look at his posts everyday.

Other than that, I think that what you are doing is right on track; draw from life and practice everyday (I should take my own advice).

I like these, too. Do some more body studies. Your faces are nice already. (of course anything could be improved upon) Do some more color ones also. Good job! I'll check back for more soon!

Madplanet- now I understand his post lol.

Dashi- You mean like go out in the parc and draw people in live action?

ArtisticSchmidt- I'll try to get the wacom going more often but my usb port broke so yea I gotta switch between all in one printer and wacom each time :/ its a pain for my head cuz I gotta crawl under the computer.

Went to National librairy which is huge... went to fourth floor: music and film. Sat on this place to listen to music with my friend who is writing a rock history book and I doodled this...

Hey, Transitory! You could get a USB port so you don't have to have a bunch of things running through one USB. They are around 25 to 50 bucks. Just a thought.

I love the linework on that last one! Nice work of the smudge tool.
