I'd recommend trying to get 5 judges.. then maybe they can each make a topic for the round, so every round you have 5 different topics which would be randomly assigned to every individual matchup. That would be a good challenge in my opinion.

i hope you keep the random-battles idea.
It'll be fun, and a good educational experience for some of us lesser experienced people to pair up with the higher level dudes.

Even if we lose, i'd bet the sparring partner would give some amazingly awesome, focused crits for us!

It would also keep a lot of the extremely skilled people in till the end, since they might not face eachother (thus eliminating one) till the later tiers.

This is great!
