Wolverine looks awesome, even though he's so light! I love how you journal/sketch together. I only wish the scans were big enough to read the writing. Kind of intrusive I know. Fun to read you sneaking pictures in the Louvre...
I have an earthbound but have yet to pick it up. I'm a little intimidated and I don't wanna mess it up, haha. I've been accumulating some ideas from these boards and your art has inspired me quite a bit. Good to see the update, or else...

Well, lets not talk about that

I like the looseness of your sketchbook. Simple but still conveys the image. Great work, keep them coming.

RNS thanks! eh there's nothing really interesting going on in the journaling, just some notes on the weather. Mainly i was always complaining that my feet hurt. you should definetly start in your earthbound book, it's so much fun!

    darkchild thank you!

I love the travelbook. I might try that in France and Spain this summer Post more of those pages and sketches!
    That oil practice, got style.
The digi, are you workin on a white background? I see some issues in color, but you don't have them in the oil practice. It might be the white background, a neutral colored one (like your sketchbook, or a grey) is easer on your eyes and allows you manage color better. The hair is very good!

Yay for harry potter (did I just say that?)

I really like the light on the robe, but I think the right side of his face needs a bit more definition, like a bit more light on the cheek or something. Anyways, good work, keep it up!

Love the sketches and the Draco painting. Looks good! The head may be a tad squished, or it could just be my perception of it. Also, putting some darker colors in on the left (my left) side of the face to define the nose from the dark shadow will make it pop and add some more dimmension.

Yay for the Earthtone paper, too. ^_^

love these two for very different reasons.

But definitely your travel book takes the honours as both inspirational and just bloody good!

Comixnut I probably will go back and finish that piece, I didn't want to color it while i was working on it because I was still learning how to paint.

Mmm. Toned Paper. I love it! The building sketches are fun, tho kinda wobbly on the lightpost. However, I like it, gives it a style and something interesting going on Your hatching lines look nifty.

    eh.

These are almost embarassing. But I'll deal.

    Such static and blocky poses.....grooooosssss.

    and some cap'n jack

I'm having trouble getting anything past the sketch stages. It seems all I do is sketch without producing any ACTUAL pieces, that really needs to change.

But i don't know where to start. :/

The faces make me cringe, but that's why i'm still learning. ah well.......Painter practice, and scene from a book that I am reading.

all right I have a question for anyone that cares to answer.
I am still learning ( obviously ) and I cannot get in contact with many art interested people where i live, so I highly value your opinion and that of my parents, since they are the only ones around (haha) But it seems as though my parents idea of art is only photorealistic humans, sweeping landscapes etc.etc. and i feel a little bit discouraged whenever they say "why don't the people you draw look real?"

I love practicing photorealism, but tell me , is that kind of thinking correct?

yes... Yes... YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS! More pirates. wohoooo! I love it AND on toned paper no less! Thanks for that. they look awesome.

Ok not been to art school neither but i have read a litte so here goes.
As far as i can tell your parents are from one of the sides that, so i have heard/read, define art: one says that art should imitate nature, the other says that art should be the persuit of the ideal.

So if you like to draw realistically, like some of the masters from the rennaissance then you would be from one side. If you like to do stuff for animation and comic books you would (mostly) come from the other side.

*shrughs* So in the end the choice is up to you, as always in art! Ain't that grand? LOL Do what you like, experiment, try new things, study from both sides and come up with something that is uniquely yours. (and don't ask me about where impressionists and all these other artists come in because i would not have a clue)

    Keep it up man!

Comixnut Thank you so much for the reply, it made a lot of sense to me.
I guess i'm still stuck in the inbetween stages wherein i'm trying to figure out EXACTLY what it is I should be drawing/focusing on.

    I appreciate it!

Oh, by all means spam that shit here!

I really like the two last studies. Just one question; do you scan or photograph your earth-tone paper drawings? 'Cus my scanner seem to destroy mine, just wondering what you were doing.

This is some really good work. Nicely varied. I like your speedpainting textures. Keep at those. There's some lingering cartooniness in your portraiture. That's the most outstanding issue.

    Memories

Number 11, on the 100 Drawings list.

To me Memory is not just one image or moment, but a feeling and emotion you get once you visit your past. Happy or sad.
That is why I chose not to show a memory, but only show someone reliving something. A calm , somber mood, probably thinking about his first love, childhood friend, or a relative that has passed away ( who knows, it could even be about the delicious meal his mother made for his 7th birthday).
