Doing my rounds Senior Appalled, so I am stopping by. I am sure the mods think I am being a wh@#e right now, but Hey I have to get to all of you guys at some point!

ANYWAY, we had a lot of what I wanted to say, and what you had to say in a conversation prior, but. You need to slow down man. Take your time. I knwo that thomas talked to us about loving the process but I think you just need to take your time man with all your stuff. The more you rush the more and more you are going to think you are not improving. Get lost in your stuff man. Its not how many pages you fill but what you learn from the ones you do.

on your most recent piece I'd say be more picky about where you put your lightest lights, some parts of the gas mask get flattened out because the value isn't really turning the form. Also I just realized that the guy in the scarf has the toyota symbol on his shirt and something about a striped scarf just makes any character look 4 points cooler.

Celica on the brain hmmm.... I thought you were a Lexus man now haha.

I think you have a really dynamic sense of light (demonstrated in your paints). Keep informing that with form and color studies.

    hey

hey adrian =), its edgar. i think your self portraits are pretty interesting but i noticed that your coloring doesnt follow the form, id recommend making cylinders orbs and cubes in perspective, move your light source around them the more comfortable you become with it, and then try to make the basic forms into more organic forms, like a orb into a bean like shape. color is another thing in itself so i would like to say stick to black and white for a little while but if you're the ambitious type whenever you use a color for your highlight, ex. blue, use the complementary color, orange, in a smaller dose in the shadow. this really helps to pop the form too.

good luck and by the way your model paintings from the masquerade are finished and i just uploaded them to my sketchbook if you wana see them feel free to stop by.

and one last thing, if you're interested, me, nino, mio, and teddy are meeting up at school monday and other days, to either cg or sketch. we help eachother out as well so you are welcome to come, ill send you my cell# and ill give you the details of the times and stuff over facebook just let me know if you're interested ok

Here are is a paint based of a vehicle sketch I did last night at sketch group. Had a lot of fun with this one. Asked a buddy to give me an animal to base a design off of. He chose flamingo which was an awesome choice. I did a couple of quick sketches on those, i'll scan those in later.

This paint is based off the one that he and I both liked a lot.

haha the flamingo speeder is fly although I no longer see the flamingo. The previous vehicle actually looks more bird like than the speeder. The illo for the vehicle b4 the flamingo is solid value wise and compsitionally etc. etc, I think it's a step forward as far as finished pieces go.

I think the flamingo speeder illo could use a clearly defined cockpit. Also I think the foreground and the background are fighting each other, try desaturating the background or shifting it's hue or something. I really like the cuts on the paneling that's probably my favorite part of it.

the heads show progression mostly value wise - a bit of construction progression too. Now you know I'm the head nazi, so I must say if you wanna draw convincing heads you gotta declare war on them/do them daily and from ref, cuz once you have those kinda nailed you get like +50 points in drawing skills.

and show us some 3d from the reel man

Hey Adrian, Travis here, i started a little thread of my own, im sure you can find it here.. now that im registered ill be commenting. I like your sketches and thought process of construction. Try seeing how you can really solidify these construction forms that look really solid like hampton can, the silouhette feels good but the construction doesn't feel as solid yet. well later.
