EDIT: Hey, just noticed I've been doing this for over a month now, thanks for all the support guys, really appreciate it!

Just digital things I did today, my scanner is still dead and I don't feel like replacing it.

Damn, why is it always that I keep complaining about not having enough time/energy through the week when I'm working, but do not enough at all on the weekends when I have all the time? I'm such an ass...

Anyways, today I drew more than just head-neck-shoulders and actually worked down a body non-referenced, which to my own surprise worked out pretty good. Okok, I know I still have to learn ALOT, but man it's so much more better than anything I've tried 1 month ago. Really starting to feel like I'm learning and getting better and I'm loving it!

^--- Selfportrait (which doesn't look like me *at all*) and some character sketch. Really need to learn how to make the faces look more different, so expect some more quick sketches.

This is a nice start of a sketchbook
try to watch proportions a lot.. On the faces, remember that the width of one eye is about 1/5th of the width of one face, and two eyes are one eye apart. You often draw them a bit too big. I recommend taking a good look at the Andrew Loomis books. I think they're downloadable here
"Drawing the head and hands" and "Figure drawing for all it's worth" are the ones I use.
    Here are some images that may come in helpful;

    Name: Loomis1.jpg
Views: 1147
Size: 75.3 KB

    Name: Loomis2.jpg
Views: 3830
Size: 112.4 KB

Ah well, eh.. The advice I want to give you is just draw a lot
Try different mediums, try working with value, as well as with lineart, try doing some full figures, environments etcetera.
    Just draw a lot hihi.

    lots of love
    Marleen

Noe - Yep, 1/5th I knew that. There a lot of those things that I know, but keep forgetting when I'm drawing. I need to apply them a few times and then it'll go naturally I guess. (:
I already got some Loomis books, though I don't use them as much as I should. Today I fixed the broken links at the top, so you can see I actually did *some* Loomis at the start.

So yeah, today I didn't do enough at all. Maybe like 45 - 60 min total. Trying to get a 'tilted' look in the first one and fiddling a bit with proportions in the second one. Should do some more dynamic portraits, get more flow, try out some 'bodyshots', go crazy with my charcoal again, mix that with some self portraits, etc, etc. At least I get to do a lot of different things. d:

hmm if you draw 45 - 60 min every day you improve heaps in a short time I think.
Just keep that pace up ^^
Sorry for telling you things you knew already I know how irritating that can be, but in the end it can be good to be reminded of it.
    Here are some websites you might already know;
    http://www.characterdesigns.com
    http://www.cloudstars.com
Your last update looks very nice, try to clean up those scribbly lines a bit, I think that will help the images you make a lot.

    love

Whoa, where did the time go? Didn't do much at all last week, so a meager update with meager studies.

Noe - Cool, didn't know those websites yet, they're very nice, thanks!

Marleen, yeah sketchmeet was quite fun. I'll wire you the money hopefully today else it'll be tomorrow, sorry it's taking that long! Oh and.. I found this new thing. It's called Virtual Pose. You probably already know it from the ImagineFX mags, it's really cool. (:

So it's been a loooong while (slacking off like usual) since I posted. I haven't done as much drawing as I should've. Actually haven't done anything for a couple of months. Anyways yeah, here's a bunch of things I found in my messy room.

Some done with reference others without, you'll probably see which is which.

There.. Any comments and crits greatly appreciated. I'll upload some more after dinner. (:

Very nice studies, I can definitely see improvement from the first post.
Keep on working on those self-portraits because like lirce said, it takes a lot of practice.

    Keep it up =)

    hi boogz

there is a lot of improvement since the first page. Paying attention to proportions like Noe said is helping. Just keep your eye on making sure the lengths and angles are correct. and just draw a lot! I hope you stick with it.

Lirce - I might just see if I can do a selfportrait a day. (: Should try to do some expressions as my faces tend to look very dull.

Oscen - Thanks mate, I'll definately keep going!

SantaClaus - Thanks for the tips! Yeah, still having problems with drawing the full figure, I try to draw some sort of box to draw into, but I always fail to fit in, or I will try to force it in and I'll get strange proportions.

Oki, I have some more things I did today. Got really frustrated today because nothing seemed to work, even things that worked in the past were looking really strange. But eventually I calmed down and began the bridgeman anatomy book.
This time I actually hope to stick with it more than a few days.

Ok, some more skull studies I did yesterday right before I went to bed. Can't really say I'm pleased with the profile ones.

Did some 4,5 hours of drawing today. Should build up to 8 hours a day before monday so I can draw that long for 4 weeks. That way I'll make up for all the lost time I haven't drawn the last 6 months orso.

    Some more Bridgman then!

    And some more other stuffs.

    C&C much appreciated!

Sorry I didn't update earlier! I was pretty tired the last few days.

This weekend was *really* frustrating, I couldn't get anything to work good. I did 2 hours of 90 second Posemaniacs things (so that's about 80 drawings) and I only kinda like 2 or 3 of them. I kinda got stuck on anatomy, having no clue what to do next. So I just kept reading and copying Bridgman's 'Drawing from Life' book (just figured out I should start with constructive anatomy, so I ordered it, should arrive next week), doing more Posemaniacs and few imaginary things (that didn't work out at all ).
Any help on how I should be reading Bridgman or Loomis and how I should practice to get the most out of it would be *REALLY* appreciated.

But on to the updates. I won't be scanning all of it since I'm too embarrassed and who wants to see 80 boring drawings anyways? Today I'll show you the things I did in photoshop yesterday. More updates from previous days coming tomorrow, first I need some more sleep.

As promised, new updates from previous days + today's things. Nearly not all, but I chose to only show the best stuff, the embarrassing stuff will be saved for maybe some other time.

    Anatomy for the Artist studies...

Some studies of my left hand...

Page full of faces, I think used reference for some of these, but not too sure.

Bridgman stuff (some tips on how to use Bridgman and Loomis like stated in the above post is still greatly appreciated! )

Study from other book, about an hour.. Was trying to go really slow so I could get the details right. Unfortunately the face looks horrible and his right arm is too thin.

Copying a few pieces trying to learn how to use charcoal, stuff is freaking hard.

And lastly some more Bridgman things.

Well, that's it for today. Hope to see you tomorrow!

EDIT: I'm putting a thumbnail in this thread for the first time. No other updates, I apologize if this seems like I'm bumping my thread!
EDIT 2: Eh.. I should have put the thumbnail in the first post, my bad! Also I figured that you won't get bumped if you edit a post.

Eh.. This whole "6-8 hours of drawing everyday for 4 weeks" isn't really working out. Have had trouble motivating myself for the last 3 days. And to top it off, I've had 2 bad drawing days in a row now.
You will probably see me again in 2 days since I'm gone tomorrow all day long (might do 1-3 hours though). Hopefully a start of a new week will give me fresh motivation.

So now that I explained why I'm showing you this horrible update of a meager 3 pages, I'll will stall you no further.

This thing hasn't been updated since the ancient times! Holy crap!
Little update: I'm applying for Illustration at HKU, but I still have to build an awesome portfolio and the thought of doing that just scares me. But I guess a bit of anxiety is good motivation.

Blahblahblah, here are some things I did the last 2 months orso, sorry about the bad quality, I'm currently drawing on A3 so I have to take pictures.

All except for the first one are from imagination. Ugh, I gotta stop drawing so many heads and focus on bodies!
