Yeah. I know it's sketchbook. I like to doodle too. At the same time it's good to raise the bar once in a while.
In the last update I like the structure at the back and the way you painted smoke. I don't really get the narrative.

TEAM CHOW II : TEAM THUNDERCATS!
@Farvus: Yeah I think i see what you mean. I tend to stand in my own way all the time. I realize that more often now.
@Grandmassa Mr. Spect: haha thanks dudeActually, I can see it fine on my monitor, but maybe it's really strange with the tones. i should adjust the image to put more light in it.
@Adrian Wilkins: Haha I wish my dedication was impressiveDude, you stepped up your game several notches already! I really like your renderings!
Anyways, figures-
Lovely paintings, and your (anatomy) studies are working out really well! By any chance, are you currently studying at the Minerva? If you do, you might've gotten some lessons from my dad!
@Toobs: Thanks man! But alas, I don't study at Minerva, I go to that other academy with the strange reputation
@krel: Wow thank you!
Got a bigger picture of all the drama on CA and all I can say to that matter is, To my opinion, the hightest moral act someone can conduct is to disobedience to an authority that asks you to commit acts only because of some ideal.
Therefore I thank everyone of those people, that decided to politely speak their mind, even if it was their own and therefore not welcome.
Wahtever, here's some silly drawings-
http://conceptart.org/forums/attachm...1&d=1261015882 - Regarding this face on the right. I don't really understand the reasoning behind such rendering. If you really want to cover large area of paper very fast then maybe use side of Koh-I-Noor Progresso pencil, extra thick version or some similar (need to be soft enough). In other words use tool that would fit your sketching style or philosophy.

@Farvus: Thank you for your excellent suggestion! Yes, sometimes I just like to make the whole page as dirty as fast as possible
Damn I'm really not wellrested, didnt want to post today, but I ade a promise. So I'll add a simple update-
how ya gunna go an make all these WICKED AWESOME SKETCHES SO QUICK!!!!!
THAT FIRST ONE IN 1264 AN THE TWO IN 67![]()
You've got nice stuff here...i like the values of your sketches and the volumes...keep it up.
@Grandmassa Mr. Spect: hey Granma!Yeah I think if you want to scetch fast you have to think more. A lot of academic figurestudies I find boring because the draftsman just uses a receipt he read in a book or had a cooking teacher give to him. Few look and think about what they really want to draw. And sometimes I want to draw different things, also in life-figuredrawings.
@dessinateurimpulsif: hey I saw your website, very nice exercises there! I also like your figures, nice lines!
Bringing forth the cubes, I actually have work to do-
AHH WHERE YOU SAID FEW LOOK AN THINK JUST GAVE ME THE CONNECTION TO WHAT IVE BEEN TRY'N TO PROCESS IN MY BRAIN AN I THINK ITS THE why '' WHY DO I WANT TO PUT IT THERE MAKE IT THAT WAY WHAT DOES THAT ONE LINE IN THE WHOLE PIECE DO TO ADD INCITE TO WHAT IM TRY'N TO EXPRESS I THINK IM STARTING TO GET IT HAHA THANKS YOU SHOCKED MA BRAIN
YOU RoOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!! !!!!!!!!
@Grandmassa Mr. Spect: Hehe, glad to be of help
more cubes-
haha ROCK'N THE CUBES THE ONE ON TOP LOOKS LIKE E SHOULD BE YELL'N ''DOG PILE''![]()
@Grandmassa Mr. Spect: Thanks man! I hope you didn't got lost in all that snowchaos over there!
Oh my god, I made a realistic looking portrait from imagination!!!!!1111Orrrrrr maybe not so realistic-
thats RAD! REALISM RRRRRRROOCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKSSSSSSSS MOAR BETTER THAN PHOTO REALISM AN IMAGINARY REALISM IS EVEN MOAR TOPS!
Hope you don't mind.
http://img704.imageshack.us/img704/8...overpaint2.jpg
It can't be realistic without trapezius muscle on back of the neck, nose thickness, cast shadow on lower lip, jaw casting shadow on the neck, upper eyelid casting shadow on the iris, ear casting shadow on the side of the face.

Awesome sketchbook man, I'm enjoying the constant updates. Your pencil rendered figures are looking great, and so are those block men, keep it up!
@Grandmassa Mr. Spect: Thank youNOw I just need to learn how to do that stuff hehe
@Farvus: Not at all! I really appreciate your overpaint. Makes me feel quitedumb, too, I should know about all those muscles and forms duh... I guess I was to focussed on the frail Math-teacher vibe for the face to concentrate on the anatomy around it. Damn I need 5 brains
@Pyroclasm00: Thank you! I'm always glad if someone takes the time to sift through here!
Not much today, I did a WIP of a face which will be a study for a bigger oilpainting I plan to kick off with next year-
No problem. The new face looks much better when it comes to realism. Now you need to look at it with fresh eye as much as possible and play with subtleties. For example the eyeballs seem to slightly differ in size. Also try to treat whole hair as single volume. It should have it's own shadow, just different level of contrast than skin.

My Sketchbook --- http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=137403
Thank you for your kind words.... I'm very happy that you like my works.
Looking good Faust. Love the cube guys. You're really pushing yourself! great to see.
I know I already said this to ye on my sketchbook, but your progress is great. Huge development since you started. Gonna watch![]()
@Farvus: Thanks again mate! I will take that into consideration when I continue with it. Which may be tomorrow.
@Gliederpuppe: Hehe, alles fit?
@dessinateurimpulsif: Sure I do! You got solid shading and form and figures What's not to like?
@jordyskateboardy: Well right now I don't really have the time to push myself, I promise you'll see when that happens!
@Gyzmotnik: Thanks man! You asked about the CA-atelier, well with the Art-department program starting off I don't know if the atelier will stay like it is. I think they will rearrange that too. Of course I am interested. Quality education is almost impossible to get in europe. But if I can get into one of the florence schools, I think I would prefer that, but it all boils down to money I'm afraid. Which makes all of those not reachable for me at the moment. Not to speak of my skills that still have to improve a lot more.
Life's brewing up a shitstorm around me right now, hardcore-christmas stress plus a job-interview tomorrow in Amsterdam for which I spend all day preparing something like a portfolio. Damn I'm sooo glad when the next few days are over
Worked a bit further on the illu, hope it gets a bit more catchy. Still a long way to go-
Man. I feel you . It should be the opposite with Christmas but there is always have to be some rush. Good luck with job-interview.
The illustration is going in good direction. I played with it a little in Photoshop but realised such overpaint might force my vision too much.
I'll just suggest then adding a lot more into the background. Maybe city lights, buildings, roads, planet. Also the jet plane/spaceship needs more eye catching silhouette. It's pretty basic right now. Adding some missiles on the wing would already give eye something to stop for longer while.
Cheers.
good progress form the last time i entered this sketchbook ... do doubt doing the right thing, keep that up m8 , let's see some really good stuff
cheers
@Farvus: Yeah I'm still in the proces to take storytelling and more interesting shapes+sillouettes into the picture. Although I _really_ like the shape in the upper-right corner. Well we'll see how it develops
@Giorge: Hey man, thanks for the compliment. It's hard to see improvement if I'm always myself and in the middle of the proces. Nice to see I learn something though.
It baffles me how much simplifying and just cleaning up can accomplish, I think I haven't felt as comfortable and secure about what to do next with a scetch for a long time-
Hey Faust, really like your stuff!
You improved over these last years especially your pencil rendering is waay better.
Also I wanted to thank you for your support.
Means a lot to me!
And enjoy your holidays. =)
