Hello, boys and girls. I've lurked for a while and given a few critiques, so I think it's finally time I contribute a bit, art-wise. Hopefully I can keep this thing updated on a (close to) daily basis. Thanks for looking!

Good sketches! great start. Really like the first one and the next couple of moleskines. Let us see more!
Thanks for the kind words, Ian.
I'm trying out Sketchbook Pro, and I love it. I really wish I had a cintiq, though, I've been using a wacom for a year or so and there's still this disconnect between my brain and making the pen move exactly the way I want it to.![]()
A little bit of development of an idea. And a horribly rabbit-robot thing.
Some sweet stuff in there. The compact fluorescent lamp (is that what it is?) in particular is painterly awesome sauce. Are those molskine pages pen or just really contrasty pencil?
I've tried a cintiq. I don't think it's worth it. There is still a disconnect between the pen and the screen -- there is a time lag, and the display is quite a bit deeper than the surface you write on.
Kdiegart - Thanks! Yeah, that's a fluorescent lamp. I use them for painting at night sometimes. And those sketches are all ballpoint.
And here's a sketch for COW. I think I'm going to get rid of the sac under the throat, or make it more subtle.
That's a sweet little creature! I love its face.![]()
Umbravita - Thanks, I'm glad you like it.
Here are a few things from today.
Diggin' your character designs man. And those ballpoint sketches look great!
Nice start on the book, looking forward to watching this thread![]()
MBK - Thanks!
A couple of pages of 5 min. poses from here and a sketchy portrait that may be the only thing I've ever done in Painter that I kind of like.
These look great! Very fluid.

"There are two kinds of students: the self-taught and the hopeless."
- Dr. Piotr Rudnicki
Vineris - Thanks!
A few things from the imaginarium.
Good job on the 5min poses. You were able to capture a solid sense of weight and volume in a pretty short amount of time. (and thank you for sharing that link, it's badass!)
They seem to be helping out a lot with the figures from imagination.
Keep cranking them out man!
Your drawings are looking really good! I suggest working on painting a bit more as well, maybe some longer studies of what ever. Keep it up.
MBK - Thanks! Yeah, that link is a godsend for those of us without easy access to life drawing class. I'm glad you like what I did, though. I've never been good at drawing women, so it's good to have this practice. It's definitely helping me think about the body more in terms of volume rather than line.
NiaLain - Thanks! I definitely need to work on my painting. Painter doesn't make sense to me in a lot of ways. It doesn't react the way I expect it to when I'm using the oil brushes, and everything else doesn't come close to the look I want to achieve. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up a copy of CS5 in a few months and work more in PS.
More things!
Nice updates man. Your figures convey a solid sense of volume and balance. Something I always have trouble with >_<
More please!
Wow, cool sketchbook!
Have you ever taken any formal art classes?
MBK - Thanks
Twilightmoon777 - Thanks. Hmm, I took plenty of art classes in high school, and I've taken a few basic courses (Principles of Visual Communications, etc.), but mostly I've just drawn a lot.
Here are some more studies. I got interrupted during one of them, and I have no idea why that guy's head was wrapped up, but I drew it anyway.
Caaraa - Can do.Although I decided to take a day off, so there'll be some more tomorrow.
Here's an imaginarium thing. I started it without any real plan, then broke off and drew some poses (which I should have done in the first place), which turned into skeleton manual labor and decapitation.
First page of a new (physical) sketchbook!

These are great, you have a nice sensitive line and good control over your line weights, I like it. continue! ;D
-Sketchbook - Comment and crit for a cookie.
JoeS - Thanks.![]()
I think the hardest thing about creating any sort of conceptual design nowadays is the fact that we're surrounded by such a large variety of realized ideas. While on the one hand it expands our horizons and exposes us to new ways of approaching things, on the other hand it makes it that much harder to be original and stand out from the crowd. That's what I've been struggling with lately, at least.

I finally decided to watch A Game of Thrones, so of course I have to sketch something medieval-ish.
Part one.
EDIT: And, part two.
EDITEDIT: Part trois. I think this is the closest I've come to a finished illustration for a while.

Sweet nothings.
.....
My connection's been in and out all day, so it took way too long to upload this.
