Pardon the ignorance, is there a sketch group for us Boston folks? If not... wanna make one? ^_^
We've got options, be it cafe sketching, the Aquarium, MFA or what have you. Would be nice to get out, socialize AND draw for a change.

I'm down. Hopefully there are more people that would be interested and actually serious about getting together.
HOLLA BACK MASSHOLES!
Looks like we are the only ones alive here Steph.![]()
Well, I did get some interest from Bizarre about meeting up in August, which is totally fine with me. In the meantime, we could schedule something for later on in June (I have graduations and weddings to go to in the weeks to come. Stoopid edumacated people and stoopid people in love.)
Cool. So lets plan something big for august then. I have a friend coming out to visit in July, and we may go visit him end of the summer in Montana. But, I definately need to pick up my dusty sketchbook and get crackin'
Haha, good luck with the graduations and weddings![]()
Ah the official Masshole Sketch Group...haha That has a nice ring to it...I request a t-shirt!
Thanks to willow-whisp for kindly pointing my blind eyes into the right direction for sketch groups. If I wasn't so lost it would have eventually found me...
I'm in Mansfield which is right inbetween Boston and Providence. I'd be up for any local activities going on in the future depending on the day and travel requirement needed.![]()
Well, that makes four of us (Blankslate PMed me with interest) so let's set a date! I'm prettymuch open for the first weekend in July so maybe we can hit up Boston and end the day with some fireworks or something. ^_^
Let me know what your schedules are like.
-Steph
Good idea, I'll join, if you'll have me
Masshole Sketchgroup T-shirts?!

Well, I'll be going on vacay in july, but I'll check in in august.
I'm pretty much open for anything right now. My life is pretty unpredictable due to not having a job at the moment. So the first weekend of July is good for me. Plus I've only been in Boston a few times since moving out here and there are a lot of places I haven't seen yet like the aquarium, which I hear is good.
As long as it's a weekend I could probably talk Gloklund into joining us too![]()
/and so the list grows...
Alrighty then, the current tally looks like this so far:
July Massholes:
Willow
Rkhon
Blankslate
leckronium
gloklund
August Massholes:
Willow
Rkhon
Blankslate
leckronium
gloklund

Sweetness. Turns out the first weekend in July won't be good for me afterall (I will be in NYC) but don't let my abscence stop you from meeting. I could totally meet up the following weekend though!
I'd like to have as many people as we can show up so waiting a week is fine with me. What about everyone else?
July 8~10?
weekend is best time for me.
So lets say we shoot for the 9th? It's on a weekend (saturday) and it's the second week of July..... Is that okay for everybody?![]()
9th looks good to me too, spread the word!
Where do you guys wanna draw? I hear the zoo is sorta pitiful, but there's that. Aquarium too. We could do studies at the MFA. Then there's places like Harvard Square and Boston Common for people watching. Does anyone wanna draw buildings? People? Stuff from your head?
Any suggestions...?
Hmmm...that's a good question. I'm up for anything. I need practice on just about everything anyways so whether it's people, animals, or buildings I'm for it. Where would be a good place to meet up? Is there an area where we could meet that might have a few possibilities within walking distance? I've been to Harvard Square a few times so I know what that's like. I think for our first time we should choose a place that leaves options in case it rains (or snows with the way the weather has been) or something.
Blank here, reporting in! Wow... it's nice, I'm on the lists and didn't even have to say anything!
Thanks to Hitoah and willow for pointing me this way...not sure how I missed it.
I'm up for the ninth.. I -might- be able to convince tokidokizenzen, bobotheseal, and a few others who don't post much on here to come too.
Crowds are awesome![]()

Whoah, it's getting to be one big happy family!
My vote goes with Harvard Square as a meeting place because it's ridiculously close to my apartment and it's also right on the Red Line, making access to the rest of Boston a snap.
My vote for places to draw would be the zoo, the commons and the aquarium, which means you'd have to buy a few subway tokens. I'm a sucker for animals and people ^_^ Plus there's good eatin' around the aquarium and Fanueil Hall. Mmmm... the Chipyard....
ahh harvard square! i know how to get there!!!!!
im all for that!!!!

If you guys want to arrange a zoo-sketch session I would be down with that. I haven't yet been to the Boston zoo, is it any good?

I'm not sure. I've never been there myself. We can always save the zoo for a future time. I think it might be better to meet everyone in a relaxed type atmosphere since no one really knows each other yet. Not even really sure how much drawing we'll get done the first time around..![]()
What're you talkin' about?! I'm here to hit the ground running and get sketchin', boy! If you wanna take the time to get to know people, you can do it while we're drawing!Originally Posted by leckronium
For real though, I don't know much at all about the zoo, only heard in passing that it's "meh", but I really wanna draw animals. Anyone wanna do a lil research about the zoo?
ok, ive talked to a few coworkers at IL, seems we may get one or two, in addition to myself. I think we're all voting for the Aquarium, wherever that is... it's also airconditioned, which might make a difference in the July heat
but, a big open public area might not be bad either, like that big green field (the commons or something?) in the middle of boston? Then we'd be able to just all sit and chat and doodle.

What can I say I'm easily distract....oooh look!, M&M's...
I'll try to arrange something so I can go up that weekend. Ideally my pop will be back in town and I won't have to be home. But if not I'll see my mum can switch her shifts around for that weekend.
The 9th is good for me too. Where are we meeting?
Hey Guys,
I live in Boston and would love to meet up too. I'm gonna be on vacation that week so i'll be missing the meet-up...but maybe in the future.
This summer i've been drawing a lot at the Boston Common. It's great for drawing people, landscapes and buildings with interesting perspectives.
see ya
j.
I guess it's still at Harvard Square. Where exactly I'm not sure. If there are steps or something we can all look for to meet at or something else that stands out. Maybe something preferably close to the subway entrance. I haven't been up there in a while so I forget exactly what's there.Originally Posted by Gloklund
This should turn out good. There seems to be many more people than I expected and I'm sure there's more that we haven't found yet.
Ok, how about 12:30 in front of Au Bon Pain? It's near both subway entrances.
If you need to know who to look for, check my profile on the site, I have a pic up. Hell, I'll even try to wear the same outfit, not that there are gonna be a lotta chicks with sketchbooks hanging around a sandwich shop. ^_^
As for a final tally, who is in for Saturday, July 9?
Sounds like a plan to me. I'm in.![]()
