Hey i heard guild wars came out. Is it any good? I always wanted to get a mmorpg, but i hate how you have to pay monthly. But this game doesn't (which is good). So if anyone bought it, give me your opinions.

My friend works at EB and got my into the Beta last weekend, and since It released last week or so I doubt much changed.

But it was fucking awesome. The game play is fast yet organized. All the characters and monsters have awesome designs, and the enviorments are quite enjoyable as well.

And no monthly fees is always and added bonus.

yay me is thinking aboot getting the game, too.. it looks great so far, the release is in a few days i think (i live in europe)....

anyways, IF i get the game i am down for sum HAWT ca.org guild action.

but thinking about getting the game reminds me of how much i actually should have been drawing the last days, not gaming...

has anybody an idea about how much the monthly fee for LineageII is?
but maybe its better to pay 39,-€ once for Guild Wars...
i've got to think about it-while i am playing Sacred again.

guild wars got a 92 i believe on gamespot.com, so it must be fairly good.

Played both the betas, so I already have my impression of the game. As beautiful as it looks, and kind of cool pvp aspects....the gameplay isn't there.

It doesn't come close to World of Warcraft in my honest opinion. Sure its $15/month. But its also a much better game with more replay value. I should also add that I play quite a bit. So if you play < 10 hours a week, then Guild Wars is a great choice. WoW has more to offer though.

I'm not big on MMORPGs, but mainly because of the monthly fees. I'm definitely picking this baby up. It's gonna cut into my Battlefield 2 fund, but oh well

UPDATE: I got it and love it. I play as Braco Madar on there W/MO. I'm in the guild Victoria Vel Nex (Victory Or Death). Anyway, for you noobs, don't leave the noobie area until your at least level 5, or 6. With that said, this is a great game. I haven't PVPed yet, but I figure once I get level 20, I'll probably do that for the rest of the time, until the expansions come out. It's well worth the money, for me at least.

I got the game today. I'm still in the training area, it's pretty fun so far. I expected worse of the beginning area, since some people said it was the most boring part of the game - it's supposed to really pick up later.

Everyone is on the same server, but there's different districts to be on. So if your questing and ended back in town you will have to know the district number of that exact town to see the other player. You'll find the district switch top left of the screen. People should add their characters name so you can add them to their friend's list.

BTW, if any of you don't have the game, and are looking to buy it, buy the Collecters Edition. It's not much more expensive (hell, I think it might even be the same price...I think I got it for 59.99?), comes with a slick hardcover art book (with CA artists like Dougbot in it), a soundtrack CD, a headset with mic, and 3 months of free Teamspeak hosting by Speakeasy. Plus your hands glow when you emote.

I try not to get sucked into MMORPGs....but Guild Wars have the best looking characters this side of Lineage II.

Even my PC desktop is a wallpaper from Guild Wars....funny I don't play it.

It's not an MMORPG, Darth. Not in the traditional sense anyways. Trust me, I'm the first to say that I stay away from MMORPGs too.

Think of it more like Diablo or Dungeon Siege except on a slightly larger scale. And with a relatively shorter "level grind." And a player vs. player main mode at the end.

I play it alot, i've had a few lvl 20 character's already

right now i am playing a W/Mo build and an E/Me build... soon to make a Mo/W smiter.

so is the gameplay like diablo at all? where you have to play hours and hours on ur character...and getting nowhere? 'cuz if its like that...even if the graphics and stuff are good, i dont want it. but ... the art looks so cool! first time i got diablo, i only played the first hour and i got so bored...

would someone like me who sort of...detests (no offense!)

rpgs would enjoy it?

you do have to to play a bit to get somewhere but with the amount of quests and other stuff they give you it keeps your interest up.

theres also an option to make a high level guy only for PvP with no leveling up

name is alkita intern. im a lvl 7 ranger for now but im unsure which porfession im gonna also take up. elementals is looking like the best best tho

OK, this is going to seem like a stupid question, but where do I go to spend my skill points? Right now I'm a lvl 7 Warrior/Elementalist and I have probably a dozen skills, but I got them ALL through quests. I still have 7 skill points and every time I ask NPCs where to learn new skills they direct me in circles. Maybe I just need to progress to the next part of the game to gain access to trainers? Not sure.

Also, does anyone know which collector gives you the helmet upgrade? I've got all the armor upgrades except for that one, but there's still a few small areas I haven't explored (mainly south of Wizards Folly), so I'm sure it's possible I just haven't found the dude yet. I'd like to get it before I start the go to war missions though.

once you go to the war missions you can buy a whole new set thats better then any of the upgrades. dunno about the skill points tho. howd you like a dozen or so. i think i have like 3

I dont wanna sound cheap, but I"d like to get the game when it gets to be like 20$ . Seeing as it is a PC game, it shouldnt take more than a few months lol. jk. i'll get it soon enuff i hope, and then i can play!!!! we should get a CA guild eh?

I haven't tried so I dunno. But I meant I'm trying to get away from this MMOG thing coz it just takes up too much time. And I KNOW I'd be completely entrenched in it and just, stop doing everything else.

Just got a new comp two days ago and I got GW to go along with it.

This game is sweet =)
My settings are at max and nary a whisper of a slowdown.

Ive got my Mo/E (Ariana Shen) up to lvl 8 and am in post sear Ascalon area.
Played some of the quick PVP action and damn its fun. Theres strategy that just isn't there in other games of it's approx type (Diablo, Dungeon Siege). I didn't like either of those games and I like this one. If you choose a PVP char... theres NO grind at all heh.

The RPG side is fun too... play with groups of people and going through missions. Apparently theres a good 100 hours on the RPG side of things. The map is humongous! I'll get a screen of it up at some point.

Would love to play with some CA people... drop me a line at Ariana Shen.
