    Yet another newbie question..

I searched in here and have had a look through the Painter9 help files but I can't seem to find an answer for this, possibly because I wasn't quite sure where to look.

    My question is this-

Is there any way to view a smaller version of my image while I work at a high zoom level, kinda like a very large thumbnail? Something like what happens when I click the little binoculars icon ( navigation icon? ) but that doesn't disappear when I click back in the main image?

Sorry if this is a silly question and thanks for taking the time to read anyway

    -Steve

    Hi,

There's only one dynamic view available and it's in the Info palette (Window > Show Info).

Other than that and the Navigation icon (binoculars) the only other way to see a "snapshot" of your image is to use File > Clone, then close the Clone when you're finished looking.

You can add the File > Clone and File > Close commands to a Custom Palette as menu command buttons. Then with a couple of clicks you can make a Clone and close the Clone.

You'll find information on Custom Palettes in the following locations (not available in Painter 8, though available with the Painter 8.1 patch installed):

Painter IX Help > Help Topics > Contents tab > A Workspace Tour

On the right panel, click Custom Palettes

Painter 8.1 updated Painter 8 User Guide > Contents tab > The Workspace > Using Custom Palettes

The Painter 8.1 updated Painter 8 User Guide PDF can be downloaded along with the Painter 8.1 patch at:

    ftp://ftp.corel.com/pub/Painter/8.1

Painter 7 Help > Help Topics > Contents tab > Painter 7 Help > The Workspace > Customizing the Workspace Menus and Palettes > Creating Custom Palettes

For anyone using Painter 6 or earlier versions, you'll find information on using Custom Palettes by using the same, or similar, terminology used for the three Painter versions listed above.

    Thumbs up

Thanks Jinny, that clone > close trick works rather well.
