hey man cool character; I like the way you did the ripped clothes and the weapon alot; nice touch with the skulls and bones as well. arms look a little short but otherwise it looks great, very nice

First of all-very nice SB you've got here.Good perspective studies,as I can see you've progressed a lot(that blurred view of future city is really great dude,i like the colours),that reminds me I should do more works in colour :/
The comic appears to me a bit schematic, work more on facial expressions, and if you can't make letters by yourself pick other font,it's also very important element!!!OK tha's enough for now ,hope i wasn't too harsh
Keep it up!
cheers,manu
Cool work! Nice start to the comic...
Something seems wrong in that last character.. maybe his arm is too short? Or maybe it's just that the baggy pants aren't reading so well, they look more like knees that are too low... I agree about the torn fabric though, great job!
You´ve got a nice sketchbook. The thing I´ve noted is that the female in post #309 seems to have a bit short legs (?) or maybe the torso is too long.
But I think those quick sketches are a good training tool.
I really like the composition of your "abstract enviro". And your comic is looking good so far. Keep updating your skb dude.
Wow. So many replies.
Onir - Thanks. You're right about the arms. Still, I'm satisfied of this sketch.
manujoao - Thanks for dropping by. That's my first serious comic so I don't expect anything amazing.
I thought this speedpainting was crappy. One teacher once said that I have good sense for colours but I think it's all too intuitive. I'm going to work on this stuff soon.
glikster - it's definately something wrong with arms. I prefer such mistake than too short legs.
johnny78 - Thanks.
Pesmerga - Thanks, man.
I sketched some crow from reference...
...and random doodles.

I don't have much time for drawing now so I updated only my self portrait thread. It's the end of my blue sketchbook. I bought the same type but with orange cover. This time it's going to be filled with more life drawings.
I downloaded recently this 3CH program for generating random themes. Very nice idea. The thread with 3CH is here - http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=63290
My first result was: "A flying warrior holding a flag collects a monkey in a futuristic mégapole." and I couldn't stop myself from painting it. So here you go (this image is also in 3CH thread)

hey man nice updates! that crow looks beautiful, great job on the shading and the form and everything. doodles are looking good as well; I like that guy with the mask and glasses alot, would be cool to see a more detailed version of that.
Very cool painting for your most recent update; such a unique topic to paint lol. great idea though, and I'd say you executed it nicely. I like the lights on the buildings and the cars below, looks really good. great stuff man keep it up![]()
Nice sektches, esp the crow.. I know I don't need to tell you that the sitting guy's neck is slightly giraffe-like...
The 3CH painting is top-notch... so far...it's a great sketch and rough value/color study... now, to quote myself in restaurants, "You gonna finish that?"
Onir - Thanks.
glikster - Thanks. The 3CH painting was from the beginning intended to be doodle made for fun.
Eh... another busy day. Here's another enviro inspired by Sparth's art. Done in free program Artrage.

sorry i haven't posted, you've done so much! o.O;;;
for the comics, i like the look but i can't help but feel that they're too static and don't keep your attention enough. the storyboard thread will help you with that.
i love your last few paintings...is artrage hard to handle? i know some ppl who work only in artrage and they just blow me away...

this most recent painting is definitely one of my favorites by you. seriously, great usage of the paint in it; I like the little details you put in with the people with the flags. great usage of color as well, gives this out-of-this-world/deserted feeling to me. post more stuff like that!lol nice update once again
excellent painting...
I seriously love it...
You should try doing some self portraits in Artrage... it seems like you have a very good coloring in your mind! make more of this stuff... it's very good!
later,

Sorry everyone for week of absence. I have fallen into small depression and couldn't even look at my new empty sketchbook. Today finally decided to take pencil and sketch something.
hpslashluvr - Thanks. I made storyboard but it seems that it didn't help enough.
Artrage is different from Photoshop mainly beacause Oil Painting tool doesn't have opacity setting. I have to put all shades straight from palette. It's easey to get used to it and with such habit I think I'm really working harder with colours.
Onir - Thanks. I'll post more beacause I love out-of-the-world alien landscapes
glikster - Thanks, man.
GriNGoLoCo - Good idea with SP in artrage. I'll try that.
machzero - Thanks. Heh. I still give number to files. There are some complications with the comic book story beacause I'm thinking of new one and transferred some of ideas.
I have mood for space topics recently. First page of new sketchbook.

Your drawings are gaining more and more sense of depth, I like that. The environment-doodles seem to help you. Should that myself sometime![]()
hey man very nice update; this fits perfectly as an illustration for something. the way you used the pencil works really nicely for this one, I especially like the reflection off the helmet; and I agree with Faust, the depth in this piece is great. love the outerspace stuff you're doin man keep it up!![]()
~Faust~ - Thanks. Enviroments are fun.
Onir - Thanks.
This time another artrage doodle. I'm not very satisfied of colours. It's some alien enviroment.

great artrage environment man, those brushstrokes really give a nice movement to the piece. colors look good imo, though I do think they seem to be around the same tone for the most part. I like that little cave passage part, really nicely done. keep it up man![]()
I really like that spaceman pic..
excellent job on that.
The last artrage enviro is cool... but a little ambiguous...
i like the space sketch, the shading is very confident.
however with the environment i feel you didn't spend enough time choosing your colors. first of all while there is a light source i think some of the colors would be affected differently by the light. also there really isn't too much of a sense of form. but it's much better than i can do ^^

hpslashluvr - I'm going to do some colour studies with natural media soon. Right now I choos colours without much knowledge. Thanks for comment.
I had some work to do and it totally distracted me from drawing. Here are some fast doodles from reference (olympics photos) to overcome artistic block.

Nice updates man! Like the comic, wanna see more of it. Enviros are cool, but in some of your sketches I can see that you need some more anatomy study, am I right? Keep up the hard work!![]()
nice quick sketches! really nice job assembling them, especially the gymnast on the bottom left
hpslashluvr - thanks!
jtheanswer - I'll continue comic later. Right now mainly doodles. Thanks for comment.
Onir - Thanks, man.
Today I started painting still life with tempera. First one is quite unsuccesful.
And some nervous hand sketches.
Last edited by Farvus; July 31st, 2011 at 11:34 AM.
those oranges are dope. nice hand studies too but it would be nice to see those lines more confident. Awesome stuff man. keep it up, i'll keep an eye on this thread.
great olympic pics... and the 2nd painting is looking pretty good; especially the pitcher.
Some of those hands seem misproportioned... and increase your line confidence! (hehehe.... I love saying that to people....)
