killer stuff, those tiny animations are the shit dude. very impressive
Fuck man those character designs are so good, especially the Character wealk runs, im assuming what you do there is draw the character over and over again till you get a look you like?
Those self portraits are fantastic as well, what program are you using? I think you've been a big influence on my painting style, now that i look at my stuff compared to yours.
can't wait for the next update!
I see you've got a reputation with your name homeslice. Action says it all. Great gestures and lovely studies. Thanks for sharing! XD
Speedy from tonight. about 45 minutes using painter X, chalk and sargent brush.
I actually dig the concept a bit, and might bring it up to a finished level at some point.
Kicek: Thanks dude! They are fucking hard as hell to do too! so Im glad all the hard work actually pays off somewhat![]()
Taj: Yes, you are correct. If I have a general idea, I will just light table over making minor changes until i have something I dig. I generally only use Painter these days, doing minor level checks and stuff in PS. Keep drawin dude!
Beelow: hahaha Thanks dude! Must have been all those action movies i watched as a kid.![]()

Hi Amazing Action Ape, you do great work. This really caught me,it would be cool to see it finished like you said.
wow, you realy have some dynamic lines.
do you have any printed comicwork? i like your cartoon-style!
put in another 30 minutes on this bad boy this evening. I dont have much free time to work on this between school work and a few commissions, but itll slowly come together.
Dextermcspice: Thank you man, hope you like the new direction.
Arne S: Thanks man! I only have a small locally published in ottawa thing out, its from like 3 years ago and isnt worth looking at though. Expect something hardcopy in the next year or two? (who knows at this point man)![]()

Really neat stuff. Very inspirational.
Stuff from this years royal winter fair. I was really feeling under the weather both times i went, so I never got a chance to break out the watercolours or anything. Bummer man.
Jason Borne: Thanks dude.

Hey man, haven't dropped you a line in ages, sorry.
Looks like your stuff is as solid and lively as ever. And you've definitely put together some more color/painted stuff. Are you going into an animation career, specifically, BTW?
Only crits I have to offer are I'd like to see more finished compositions. Seems like you need to work on 'bringing it all together'. Also, more use of 'focal point'. The class-assigned color/value studies of a bathroom(?) that you did a while back were a step in the right direction.
Other than that, everything looks really strong. Excelsior!
PS yeah I know "school beating my ass" = "no time for finished compositions" You can owe it to us at the end of the semester![]()

hey bludhund, you bring up valid points, all of which i agree with and need to do more of. And I thank you for saying that. I am however dropping this sketchbook completely. I just cant compete with the people that update like 12 times a day and then get pages and pages of ass pats. Im glad the few of you who have replied and gave critiques to me have done that, and I am grateful. Im just tired of this place turning into a new age deviantart, so posting my work here, wont happen anymore.

This sketchbook is absolutely great, can't really believe I've never taken a closer look at your work. Love the lines, very fluent and dramatic.
five star, hands down.

Love the last set of studies... especially the cow marker sketches.
You aren't gonna be updating anymore? that's Really disappointing man. This is such a bad day for the Gospel of Ape, you've also decided not to go back for a 3rd and 4th year? can't you transfer to a place better suited for you? What's the specific issue that made you finally leave?
Sorry for all the question's man, haha.
Incredible sketchbook dude! Marker sketches are sooo good and all the studies. Sad to hear you're not going post here anymore.

I checked out all your animations on youtube. really fluid and dynamic. very natural feel to them. and your a great voice actor too. I assume that it's you at least.

you're back, too? nice... i'm trying to stick with it for the summer
We don't talk anymore! WE'RE NOT FRIENDS! But you're still a killer artist. : ) Love the line quality, mooore please.
Some Digital Stuff from the past few months.
More traditional stuff on the way. Just waiting on the scan job.
Pennington: Hope this quenches your thirst.Unfortunately I was not the voice actor for any of my animations, hahaha they were just clips from movies or tv shows. My voice is much deeper, and meaner, and eviler.

Amarryth: You bet, I found out I learnt more from here than school, even if it was just osmosis working.
Sway West: GET MSN! I dont use that AIM shit anymore, fucking annoying it was.I think you've seen most of these if you peruse my blog still.

haha.. that's part of the reason that i've returned.. i've learned soooo much here.. and i'm ready to learn more
I love the sketchy quality of the batman stuff there. I want that and then cut in with a few more sharp details for contrast? I have no idea if that would ruin it but I'd love to see.
I also adore your sketchbook pages filled up with all that stuff, completely random. ^^
More caricatures and what not. Anybody work for disney or pixar? What areas do I need to work on to land a job for either company?![]()
Amarryth: Me too.
Blythe: I think that would probably pull the pages together quite nicely. They were mainly an experiment in storytelling with different digital mediums. (PS and Painter). They were a lot of fun, and I would love to revisit them later on to spruce them up for a stronger portfolio. Thank you.![]()

Love the sketch pages. I was wondering how many pages you do a week? Thanks for the input on my sb.
"Good composition is sort of like pornography. You know it when you see it. "
Awesome sketches and ideas!
funky fresh line art.
Some charcoal studies of armour referenced from the internet.
Ive just started dabbling in charcoal and find the medium tricky, but fun.
And some more sketchbook pages. a frazetta study, plus some cool shit.![]()
Kaffinated: Thanks dude, per week? depends on the week I suppose. I'd say on average id do about 15 - 20 pages. Sometimes more, sometimes less. No problem man.![]()
SanXavier, zweiDee: thanks guys.

Noses. Hah, I love how different people's noses are.
As for getting in at pixar or disney have you tired emailing and asking them? Or looking through their FAQ? They might have some tips there, been awhile since I looked and depends on the position you want of course . . .
"I just cant compete with the people that update like 12 times a day and then get pages and pages of ass pats."
something thats bothering me too lately. you have to scroll like, 2/3 pages for any art to find haha. I'm doing it for myself, i guess.
I really, really like your sketches, i love the comic vibe. looks like the sketches are getting better lately. I'm watching this thread. 5*
