Andrew, I just went back and looked at your first Daily sketch on cgtalk (Number 61), and I'm amazed at how far you've come in such a short time. What clicked for you?
The latest sketch is spectacular. The subtle lighting makes it look modelled.

The progress you've made over the last 5 pages is amazing and totally inspiring. You are amazingly skilled and judging by the progression, seem to have an excellent sense for work. I love it!

Im really enjoying your use of overlays. They seem to be used fairly rarely in most digi paints, but as seen in yours can produce a pretty dramatic effect and feeling of realism. The idea that someone could actually use that armour is rather debatable, but it sure as hell looks like it kicks ass![]()
BADASS.
The last two are cool cool as hell, they look like 3d models. Great pose, great textures.
Awesome work man.
Keep postin'.
Cheers
Damn!
Those last two are so well done. Would you happen to have process pics of them? If not could you show us some whenever you make the next one?
Thx

Wow! I realllllly like what I'm seeing. Great stuff, sir!
jesus these paintings are amazing I thought I iked rust textures a lot, as Bernard Matthews would say boo'iful, love your doodles too great swinging curves, been told to try that myself, I'm way too scratchy.
Thanks guys - glad you like them. I'll be putting up tutorials when my site is ready. At the moment the only free time I have for this stuff is after midnight - thats why all my posts are around 2-4am.
Anyway just a quick painter sketch for now, but I might do a full render of this later.

This thread is shows the best and worst of CA.
The best because it shows what dedication and imagination can achive and the worst because it makes the rest of us look bad![]()
Some really great dynamic peices in here.
You north or south manchester?
That robot is 5 star rad. Did it start life as a 3D model?
Pud'

Whoa, nice paintings, dude. That texture is ridiculous. I'd be interested to see some step by steps of that. Great stuff. Bring on s'more!
Those latest robot paintings are fucking insane! Both in design and technique. I'm pretty impressed by the range of your work, you seem to be able to handle organic and machine elements with the same flare. Nice work.
Your stuff is Re-donk-ulous.. yes... i said 'donk'.
I hate you soooo much... HATE!!
and by hate.. i mean love... and by you... i mean your stuff..

Awesome dude, you're a very talented artist not just with the ID stuff.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers

You really have a way of 'feeling the forms' if you know what I mean.
Great shapes in those quick sketches.
I really like how you handle the shapes of the eyelids and how the light and shadow affects them.
One of the most inspiring threads at the moment.
Thanks for the crits in my sketchbook by the way, I will try![]()
Okey, you're now officially too good, expect the guys in black suits to come and knock on your door.
wow man, those loose sketches are just great, really pleasing to look at![]()
can you tell something about your learning progress, how you approached anatomy etc?
keep up the dope shit![]()
Ah yeah, some of these just look too damn cool. Great ID work too.
Your armour is really very cool,
I can just hear the SCREETCH's it would make from that texture.
Nice to have some one with real talent representing manchester![]()
Pass by the UK lounge thread if you havn't already and say hi, others would love to see your sketchbook.
Also theres talk of organising a UK meet up north in the future and getting all those southerners up here![]()
Hey man, been following your work on cgtalk and this sketchbook. Very inspirational stuff. Your quick sketches have incredible designs. I'm already starting to see some lesser people trying to rip off your style, that means you are doing well.Congrats with the success, now hurry up and get hired by a game company so I can play a game with these designs hehe.
buzzz3d - Thanks man
CgMonkey - lol
Darkside - I just break down the forms into basic shapes then build on top of them
Magic Man, IllustriousHarry - thanks guys
Slybones - damn really? oh well - glad you like my stuff

Self-improvement is masturbation, Self-destruction on the other hand....
wowowow, absolutely insane work.
LOVE LOVE your style.
damn dude.. these are awsome.. haven't checked out in a while, the quick sketches are wicked. Loved the expressions, superb..the animated gif, hehe that's a good one.. awsome stuff..
AAAAAAAHHHH-SOME! Great work man! I just want to step into some of the images that you create. The world that you paint is incredible. keep it and and do feed us more!
Sketchbook:: //// A thread of evolution ////
that animated GIF is cool.
i think your mechanical stuff is a lot stronger than your figurative work. the ID stuff has more flavor and gesture than your organic drawings. i can't quite describe it. not that your figures aren't good, they are good. I just think that your ID stuff feels more direct and confident. anyways, you are a very skilled artist and your sketchbook is awesome.
Really cool stuff. I love those rusty robots.
wow thats a slick animation, I would definately recommend getting flash if you havent already, its a great tool to use for animation, and many people are looking for skilled animators.
Thanks a bunch for dedicating a sketch to me, i feel so honored. Thank you! you rock.
we gonna see some more delicious sketches?
Those robots are amazing, I love your mechanical stuff... well, all your stuff.![]()
Thanks everyone!
Here's a few more sketches - I left one unfinished so hopefully you can see the process a little - I dunno is that any help?
