Excellent stuff, I saw your work in Spectrum 11 yesterday. Good stuff, I really like your brush work, of course, and color decisions. The grey light side and hyper saturated shadows make for a very awesome sickly look. I am gonna have to try that. If you have the time at some point, I'd like to message ya, to ask about how to get into Spectrum, myself and my friends were discussing it over the book, and I'd like some inside info, if that would be cool?

    scary...

wow this is cool idea and design...
my suggestion would be push the belly more into her, cause right now it looks just a bit like it's not part of her body... if you are going for that look anyway.
You can fade out the "T-29" a little, but that's just my taste...

the website looks cool and dark, and scary... descripions/titles of the art will keep the browsing experience on high level for longer i think.. that's it, so far.

Damn you're good! I just visited your homepage. These lifedrawings are insane. Are those majorly done with a soft pencil or charcoal?

    Thanks everybody

Fifthace-Thankyou sometimes working on a piece you are never sure, the first compliment from a stranger is always a good one.

cannibalcandy-You can feel free to email me. I would like to say getting into Spectrum is just a matter of undeniable skill. But the truth is, its about well place bribes (Jon and Irene: I hope you got your checks)

DernierCri-All your crits are good ones and I am considering them. Especially the ones about the website, I didn't think people cared about that stuff.

lewiston-Thanks a whole lot. The drawings are done with a Conte 1710 B sharpened to a long point on smooth newsprint.

davi-thanks, horror is my favorite genre to work in, but at the same time I don't want to become "the guy who does horror"

    Sick but good!

This is a very twisted idea, but I am a sucker for those things. Your tonal values and composition are great. My only coment would be that it would be nice to see some subtle, cooler hues used in the shadows, especially in the shadows of her face. Also, is that the left arm that is visible behind her left breast? It seems a little rough, so maybe that could use a little more definition.

    Seriously though, great piece!

thats pretty sweet. Must be strange/ fastinating to watch your baby grow inside of you or someone else for that matter.

Reminds me a lot of some wayne barlowe pieces. He did something with his Inferno painting project where I think each persons soul was turned into a black sphere, then grafted to them somewhere.

Those are some badass rendering skills... great stuff. Possible crits, I think you could push the anatomy a bit more in the shoulder/arm with your strokes. The belly also seems out of perspective to me.. the circle outside the womb feels like it's angled more at us.

    Thumbs up

    Hi,
Nice work ! I enjoy particularly the concentrated expression of the woman's face, and the beautiful orange reflections dancing on it.
However, I think bottom of her legs need to be defined a little more, because their volume and color are not as clear as the other parts of her body. But that's minor crits
Great stuff on your website : you're a damn good painter, man.

Here is a link to a larger version here
and I updated my website with info to accompany each illustration

tinyhands-Thats the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me

    Muttonhead-Thanks for the crit

Odds-Thanks, I saw it in a dream. Well that is where it started anyway.

Danilo-I'll see what I can do, check back later

oracrest-I have been a fan of Barlowe's work for a long time, but I never thought of this comparison till now.

    MarkTeare-Thanks

Sinix-Thanks for the crit, The perspective of the belly has been bothering me as well

    IronClad- www.spectrumfantasticart.com

Arctis- I actually wanted to keep her legs very subdued, but they came across a little to much so because the photo is a little dark.

    Thanks again everybody

whee. awesome. I've been looking at the painting for about 6 minutes, it is truly beautiful. and you had a lot of "courage", (don't think I would've had the heart to do this, if I was in your place), doing the tube thingies in this intense colors, but it's absolutely the right thing to do, works very well.

thats a very sweet painting. Am I right seeing some Wayne Barlowe influence at play here?

Lovely... in a twisted way. Maybe the t-29 sign and the fuse pump sign are drawing abit too much attention? nitpicking I know... but heck that was about the only thing I wondered about.

    Mat_Ratcliffe-Thankyou

fukifino-Thanks Forrest, yeah I think next time I update I am going to take that piece of my website.

    quietadrian-Thanks Adrian

dorian-I don't know about courage, thats just what I saw. Actually the way I initially wanted to do it was like some of the old illustrators (ie. Wyeth, Cornwell) where they did these pieces that were just B&W and another color, but I opted for this instead.

    George Bieber-Thanks

Boom-Someone else pointed out the Barlowe thing, I enjoy his work very much, but only have his Expedition book. I have'nt looked at his work in years until now and can definitely see an influence I didn't conciously aquire and am flattered to be compared to him.

San Diego Comic-Con will be here in no time. Make your plans now, I would love to meet you all.
