John Yaya, John Smallberries... (Buckaroo Banzai)

I've scoured the site and can't find any reference to The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension. This was an 80's cult classic, but I'm not sure how many people here have seen it (since most were born in the 80's). I'm only thinking out loud due to Rick Hershey's sign-off line "Keeper of the Oscillation Overthruster".

It was very campy, but very funny, with some classic lines. I recommend seeing it after one has consumed about three beers. (That and anything from the first two seasons of MST3K.)

For those who have seen it, is there a modern equivalent (in the past 5 years)?

For a long time I thought I was the only one who ever say it (younger) I've made everyone I've know n see it now (DVD). I've actually tried buying the rights to it, and have discussed it. . .but no luck

    yet.

Haha, I have fond memories of this movie. (But I'm kind of an old fart at 30 compared to most folks on these boards.) I can't really think of any modern equivalents to it though. Camp that doesn't suck has sorta gone outta style.

I love the end credits to that movie and the music that plays with it.

........IN THE BEGINNING THERE WAS HOWARD THE DUCK!

I miss the 80's they don't make great campy movies like those anymore.

"You can check your anatomy all you want, and even though there may be normal variation, when it comes right down to it, this far inside the head it all looks the same. No, no, no, don't tug on that. You never know what it might be attached to. "

I appreciated the little homage to the amazing end credits sequence of BB in The Life Aquatic.
