Hi, I'm totally new to this community - thanks to nike!!
I'm doing a lot of drawing and I love it! Until now I've only done stuff like nature studies and I've been to one drawing course with nude models.
I haven't done any real concept art yet, but hangin around here has
motivated me a lot!!
The first posts will be my studies I've been doing - I welcome all critics,
I need them badtime and there’s no better way to learn!!!

wow, ur figure studies looks great, keep drawing gestures. That was the only thing attracted me between all your works. And the 4th pic, dunno what to call it.

Ur shading is also good.
Work a little more on your prespective, the drawing of the room and Mr Skeleton looks good, try to get te control of your lines. DO more prespective studies.
Well, for lowering your your image sizes, first change the size in photoshop, then, upload it again.

good to see your stuff! That leafs and oranges are reminding me so much of helene and her drawing lessons
Good to see you're starting with life studies, keep doing them, also the figure studies are good - just try to work a bit on your line quality, I'm still working on that, too
And do some persepctive studies, too!

True, I really need (and want) to work on perspective! Do you have a book tip for me, because I'm a bit helpless on this matter?

To be honest - I have no idea what working on line quality means... does it mean getting a more accurate line? What's the best way to do so?

drawing body simplified is a good start to get a feeling for porportions..
try to see ur shapes as 3Dimensional objects.. like cylinders or spheres.. cubes .. something like this .. drawing and roating cubes is also a good method to learn foreshortening..its much easier to foreshorten complex stuf f when u understood the basics once

I want to do portraits today, so I started to get a repertoire on faces and facial features, ref used:

great studies, i also use Bammes currently but less consequent than you!

It´s really about "feeling" that form you draw....

About that portrait, there are some problems with proportion,
look through Bammes anatomy book and you may find the
proportional relation of human face, which helps you controlling that stuff!
(the length from where the nose starts to the chin is too small!"Silberblick!")

just don´t forget to ad some upper eyelids,

Just do another on and take some more time on the drawing,
try to get all the details and features,

This is my good night drawing (it's 1 o'clock in the morning here )
this one took me about an hour, with ref:

I got to go to my neighbour's atelier and I did a lot of gestures there and finally a figure form the mind on A1 with acryl, it took me about 2 hours (sadly you don't see that it took so long...) It was fun though!!!!

some are the same, due to my digicam - because I had to photograph them off an A1 paper

nice gestures!
Now maybe take that without ref done acrylic painting, look at your anatomy book and try to find your errors- why some things in it can't be working and so on - so you can really learn out of your mistakes and improve when you are trying again!

Really liked your figure drawing of the girl all curled up and your recent envionments.

Keep studying anatomy and life drawing. There's been improvement in your work so far so keep studying hard and drawing constantly!

that's some great studies you've got here ! I also really like the subtle style of your first works.

I think it may be a good idea to spend some more time on the proportions, untill you understand them, and are able to play with them from memory, before you move on to the features & muscles.
At least, that's what I did and am doing ... I'm just going through Loomis' books (you can download those online) amongst others, pretty much in the order as in the books. (Figure drawing for all it's worth & Head and hands cover the human figure.)
The reason is, that if you start with the general things, you're drawing figures with good understructure ... and you can use ref to fill in the rest ... or just put very simple features in. This will look way better then great features on a weak structure.
And than you can work your way up, and refine your 'model'.

Just my 2 cents ...

@NightVision: thanks for the tips, your right on the proportions, I'm not save with them but I'm really eager to go on... I'll print the loomis book next week, so I can use them (I go crazy when reading them on the PC...)

As far as your facial studies go, I think you have a slight tendency to set the eyes fairly far apart, giving the pice an akward look. Once you fix that, however, you'll be rocking as you practice! Good job!
