Hey Sir, I love looking through your SB. The contour line sketches are really interesting. And I really like that last self portrait.
Please stop by my new Anatomy Sketchbook and critique the hell out of it.

Placeboast - Thanks, I like the rendering, too. You're right, I should refine it some more.

timpaatkins - Thanks for the kind words

Alday.J - Will do, I'll work on tightening it up more.

fooxoo - hehe, thanks. Half-shave was funny, but didnt last long :p

    crazy3dman - Thank you!

hehe, I know I keep repeating it, but I again forgot to scan.
Been doing bridgman studies and other usual work, I'll try and scan tomorrow.

Here's todays self portrait, done in OC. One of my favorites so far.

Wow ! A lot of these digital works are very similar to traditional paintings ! I'm impressed ! I think I like the last one the best as well . Something about the lighting and the colors are very interesting too P: .... half of a mustache ? -confused- ;o

The watercolor is nice , but I think its a little bit too washy ... it really depends on the style you were going for . A nice little excersize might be to try layering contrasting or different colors ! All of these are really interesting ! I enjoyed looking at them .

    Thanks everyone!

Alisa - Thanks, I try to use the same process when painting with both digital and traditional. I agree with you on the watercolours, I tend to use way to much water, I'll practice with em some more, try to get more control.

jkior - Hey, youre the expert or work and dedication, not me Thank you, yeah, oc kicks my ass.

strych9ine, WARHEAD, Alday.J, Miau, That fat kid - Thanks for the compliments, youre too kind

Todays update, scanned sketchbook pages, but most of it is senseless junk, couldn't keep my focus on anything this past week (aside from the self portraits)

First of, todays self portrait, this one was a bit rushed, held up a mirror beside a mirror to see my profile. Hand got tired, so I stopped... Done in OC

Did a lot of drawings from life, mostly of my 2 brothers doing stuff.

Also did a lot of these kinds of pages with random stuff thrown about.

Drawing from photograph, continuing to study torsos

Was reading Bridgman yesterday, did some sketches along the way

Got my hand on a car mechanics' book/manual, did some sketches

Thats it, hopefully next time around I'll be able to sit down and focus on one area and get more work done.

Hello Sir, that green/red SP is pretty kick ass. These last few pages, although full of random sketches, are full. And I think it was Mentler that said that pages should be completely filled, and you're doing that. The torso sketch is really nice too. Keep it up man.

Zord - Thanks! I like the pages that are full, I was just frustrated that I couldnt focus on studying one single thing and did work all over the place.

    Alday.J - Thanks a lot dude!

Continuing self portraits, experimenting with colour and value techniques. This one got messy in the end, but was a great learning experience. Done in OC

whoaaaaaa. . .fantastic update man! dang, I didn't see that last update. Your pen sketches are always awesome to look at; it'll be interesting to see what happens as you absorb some of the bridgeman material. . .also yay belvedere!

color studies are lookin great. . .the only crit I have is the same one Jon gave me - to really really really really study those transitional edges where light 'turns' around the form into shadow. . .particularly the degree of hardness or softness and the 'suddeness' or degree of value shift. It's these things that will really make a quick sketch pop. . .hehe I think so anyway, I don't have it yet. Anyway keep rockin it man!

Very nice work here, Green (though the half-shave freaks me out). It seems like you tend toward small feet on a lot of your works, but overall, a really nice body of work.

That fat kid - What? Profil blabbed? Gotta get that bastard! The silly sp was fun, but soo messy, hehe. This next update is all for you man!

Dan1989 - Thanks, Im happy with the way the sps are going. We'll see where they go from here

Pixeldragoon - Try some digi sp's, theyre good practice without worrying about the medium, just painting freely. If you wanna see how I do some of these, I have all the .wpe opencanvas files hosted online http://www.odicart.com/wpe/
    if youre interested.
Todays SP is coming tonight, here are some traditionals for now, life drawings done last night. School started today, got a bunch of projects all due soon. I'll have less time to work and scan, sp's should still be daily, but I dont think I'll be scanning traditional work more than once a week.
Anyway, unto the work. Started out pretty messy, was rusty with my life drawings.
    Subway sketch

    1 minute sketches

    5 minute work

Watercolours, still need practice with this medium

    Model during break

20 minute study, focusing on proportion

Here's tonights self portrait. Focused almost solely on colour here, ended up messing up some other key areas, but am otherwise happy with it.

Some of the features (nose in particular) looks misaligned in the last one, but I guess that's understandable since you said you focused on color. All the life drawings look great, I like the subway ones the best.
