Thanks for the advice guys. I worked on it a bit more and eventually figured it was as good as it was going to get, so I scanned it high and got started with the colours. Here's where I'm at right now (I just had to listen to Opeth and Unearth to really get into the mood, heh heh heh):

I'm having trouble differentiating the skin from the random hairy bits. Using Photoshop to do this, by the way.
Will have some sketch, non-demonic studies up soon

Hey hwy no hiding your faults here,Atleat not here.
I mean it doesnt matter if your drawing if a bid off ,you will learn only by practicing ,nobody expects you to master perspective in a couple of days .
I really dont want to make this a habit .Btw you make some sickly cool goats. It looks like I looking at some black metal illustration.
    Keep up the good work.

hoi there m8! just cruisin sketchbooks, yours rox! Some wicked crazy animal drawing skills, especially with those goats. hmm, to differentiate the skin tone from the hair..well, perhaps you could try adding some feint highlights in the fur at the edge where it meets the skin. looking forward to seeing your studies, and that colored guitar.

Too...many...goats...i had a dream where i got this cool goat skull tattooed across my shoulderblades. it did look pretty cool, but it was a dream :p

bhanu: heh, I leave my faults right out there for everyone to peck at. thanks for stopping by
Halos Chain: okey dokey, i'll try to define to the edges more. i think the guitar's gonna be the hardest part, funnily enough.

Another update of the metal CD cover, and some really horrible scans (not using the right computer at the moment) from the last few days.

Cover #2, sketch stage. Her face is...odd? Hmm.

    Feets! From Hogarth.

A big toe (Hogarth), and some brainspew. That black dog keeps manifesting.

An earlier character sketch returns, didn't finish the front face though. Some quick ugly chicks from refs. And the black dog of course...

Looking GOOOODDD, on the second skech the eyes are
to close to the nosebridge, rember that the eyes go aligned
to the nostrils, you should ge able to alocate an extra eye in the
middle of the nose, rigth now theres no space for that.
the lips are a little bit to defined, dont outline both, think
were your lighting is coming from and fade the lines acordingly,
REAALLLY cool monster and feet studies, KEEP those Up!!!
and dont forget your salt while reading my critics, becuase Im
    struggling with this things myself!

Hoo boy. Been caught up with assessments and such, but semester's over and I'm back in the game now. Starting with an old page, some Loomis from April or so.

Random quick brainspew, May (Wolverine from yesterday though).

Thursday, I was waiting for my assessment review session for a class. Had about 10 mins to spare, a blank page, and there i went.

Some random quick studies from various references.

    hey iolarnula!
you've got a nice sketchbook going on here. I studied your drawings and paintings for a while, you're defenately going the right way with those studies. You've totally developed your anatomy through out the book, and it's nice to see!
Paintings looking cool too, more of those.
i guess the faces seem a bit stiff tho, some portraits would prolly be good practise. just a suggestion

    very cool, keep it up!

Tigermilk: Really? That's good to hear, heh. I'm gonna keep working on faces, they are my weakest point at the moment (though I'm weak at most things...hee.)
Rods: Thanks rod, I'll keep a-workin

Now. First up, some more Hogarth studies from yesterday.

Some stoopidness when I was bored.

More non-ref. The flying dogthing returns!

More to come, now that I have time; faces, people, and some enviros if I can manage it. Yayz.

Some more from yesterday. I haven't scanned the other studies yet, might post them tomorrow. Anyway. Tigers and a random (static, as usual) face.

6-legged critter running, an image I'm working on for someone. I think I will re-do it. Loosely based on the running tiger studies.

And now for some studies, randomly referenced. Hyenas have the strangest bodies.

The faces in this one are from my brain, hence the shoddyness :p Hogarth arm.

    Rough Loomis stuff and scribbles.

Colouring. Not sure where I'm heading with this, but I hope it's somewhere good...

    Nice work =)

I can see a lot of Hogarth's images. I really like his book, helped me a lot to understand dynamic drawing... had to forget all that I knew about drawing and restart fresh. Long process but it paid off =)

Since you are able to draw well enough, I would suggest to do the poses he proposes but on a different angle so you can push yourself a bit further

Simon.Rain: You're right, so I did try some out below. Not very refined though, hee hee.

Bloo! No ref. Originally this was for the main figure in my LMS TDome pic, but I ditched it for being too static.

Womenz. I never draw them. Loose and quick, from the brain. Faces suck

    Brainspew. Loose and quick.

We eventually decided on this variant of the running hexapedal critter.

I like the snowcamp painting. Nice work all around. My only recommendation is that you loosen your sketchwork a little and focus more on the quality of your lines than on the integrity of your rendering, with proportion and all the other inherent elements.

    nice book!

if you don't mind a some first-view assumption/opinions: your anatomy studies and drawings from ref are getting really strong but when you draw faces from imagination you tend to revert to icon-features. instead, try to apply what you know to be true about the structure of the noses and eyes you're imagining, build and observe them in your head, then put them down on paper.

Chandan: yeah, damn those f***ers. REVOLUTION!
Maxetormer: hah, i should have done it about 2 years ago for an art trade. just never got anything looking moderately okay until i just went 'screw it' and rolled with this idea.
Listing: i think it's my insecurity with being barely able to show form without some sort of rendering, but i will give it a shot
bwkeough: i've started working through that loomis guy's faces book again, so hopefully i can improve more in that area, heh. thanks!
invincible: i actually painted all over that, it was just getting so frustrating ah well. next time maybe i'll get it right.

I have been working on things recently, just feeling a bit sick at the moment. Anyway - finished the flying dogbird:

And some really quick colours over another user's lines in Painter (that program is hard...):

I'll have some sketches up soon, I promise! Just busy with my LMS2 Thunderdome pic :p

Really impressive stuff in here! I love... everything. I'll add to the critique that your figures look more like groups of muscles than people. Try bridgeman studies for rhythm and balance. Keep it up!

EDIT: Whoops, only looked at the first page. You're much better about that now... um, good job.

Apathy: No probalo! I'm gonna be hanging around the colouring book more often from now on
    Fishspawn: Thanks mate.
Invincible: Heh. Well, it didn't turn out too well for me, but I posted it below.

I'm back from snowboarding and the start of the new semester (much to do, but i'll keep on top of it now!). I have a fair few pages to show, but I'll start with my Last Man Standing 2 sketches and entry:

I don't like how it turned out at all, I need to do so much more practice. Wargh! Anyway, on to the other stuff. Mostly unreferenced apart from a few facial plane/hand/perspective studies (Hogarth, Loomis). Mouths confuse me.

rodrigo: about time i put those copics to good use faces to be sure.
invincible: that's what I had trouble with, everything came out looking so...plain. eh. but I've got a chance to rectify that (see below).
maxetormer: hehe, i know. i will keep it up!

First off, I got into Round 2 of the LMS2 TDome! What the crap?
I've been busy with coursework this week (including some drawing, yay), but here's two pages for practice. I sat in front of a mirror wearing only my undies, and then just scribbled on from there...

Hogarth studies. I've finally finished section 1 of the book, got 3/4 left hehehe.

    More to come (faces!).
