Insanity in 8x10, Skulldog sketches (Dec 12)

I started a real sketchbook, one with like paint and stuff. It's an 8x10 drawing pad, working mostly in straight ball point pen, with watercolor, and color pencil details.

My anatomy is terrible, so if you want to really help, crit the heck out of that. Redlines really loved here.

lovely textures! my favourite is the green bird.. thing. Where do you get your inspiration? these look like they just flow out of your head.

wow, great sketches. love the ideas. though the sketchbook doenst seem to like watercoor i used to do that, but i switched over to inks, not as page wrinkling. just be careful with how much water your getting on there.

as far as your anatomy, not seeing too much worng with that, just a few minro things. so in no particular order..
the one with the green bird monster, the angel gals neck is too long. nose is too high as well.
first one seems to have no neck
on the cover, the page with the white figure. the jaw and chin arent quite right, chin shouldn go down at an angle like that, unless its just skin but then we would see more saggin in the neck. necks a bit thick, shoulder needs some definition. think of what muscles are under there. that could be something for you to do is study the muscles.

i shall keep a watch on this

EccoXile - Thanks, that the exact sort of things I'm looking to get people to point out, I'm keeping those in mind now. Hopefully these two have some better neck and shoulders going for them.

Haha insane=) watercolor, omg I would never dare use them in my SB.

But u said your anatomy knowledge sux, why dont u take a step back and drop the colors and do only anatomy sketching? its easier to give crit and for u to see without color.

Cartoonfox and Fellah: Thanks, I do plan to post more, gotta keep working.

Berne: I use the colors as a wash to round out forms, I probably won't be dropping it anytime soon, it's much much faster for me to study with 3D in washes then to render them out in pencil or pen all the time. Speed is something I'm working at.

Hahaha, I really liked your stuff, and your style is strong enough to stand out against everyone else (although actually still having that screencap makes it awesome, i found it on a transplanted hard drive from my old pc ).

I especially like that "birdhead-chick on horseback", color and compositon is great!

On some pages the human anatomy lacks a bit, but because your paintings a from a loose way, it doesn´t distorb!

I'm immediately reminded of William Blake. You've got a great style going here; very striking. The muted colors are adding the right mood to the characters and settings -- maybe try for a little more contrast in spots. As far as your anatomy goes, it looks to me like you are working very hard to get better. It'll get there. More practice = sooner than later.

You have a great sensibility...I love the washed out colors...especially the first few images. Your anatomy isn't so bad - don't be so hard on yourself. I'm always trying to do an anatomy study here and there...it's an ongoing learning process.

The only thing that I thought could use a little improvement were the proportions on some. Some dudes look a little squat - which could be intentional (and kinda cool) - but I wasn't sure.
Keep it up...can't wait to see more

Little bit behind in posting my work, but not in adding to the book. Finished off all 50 pages!

Doing some studies of the arm structure, and once I get a better grip of that, moving down to the torso.
