    XIA's Scribble Updated May 4, 2005

It's been a long while, been extremely crezy busy with working out and prep my body to compete in Mr. Universe 2005 and all (kiddin). But here is a humble update for your amusement.

Some kinda doodle I did take a good few hours each pages. I am trying to focus more on value this time around hoping that it would help my painting process.

This one is a little rushin'

Some oil study from life (They are a pain in the ass, believe me, working oil from life within limited amount of time is enjoying and challanging but not so fucking easy...I hate it and I love it at the same time)
    Good Five to Six hours.

    Good few hours

    CU

    Speedy and what not, craps:
    Few hours

Five to six hours but still craps

    Quick Character design crap:

Some five to twenty five min studies from life:
And they are all in graphite (nothing fancy here)

(HPX cross my mind on this one)

Odd>> Thanks dude, I really hope I get better over and over.

Jonny>> Thanks buddy! Oil medium can be a real bitch most of the time. But I've grown to love it.

NoUseFrAName>>Thanks Bro You too have come a long way.

liam. c>> Ma man! love you too.

    JProvost>> Thanks

maldrin>> I am flatter, thanks. Go ahead that what they are there for.

ZebFree>> Thanks bro, I felt the same way everytime I drop by CA.

Steak-Tron>> Thanks bro, Love you more.

maxetormer>> Sorry for not updating more often. But I hope you will be happy this time around.

Rusty>> My hero, Whatcha talkin about? I am sure if you give oil a couple of trials, you will be flying.

TPhilipT>> Thanks, I am a 3D artist actually. My 2D are useless most of the time.

Corky13>> Thanks bro! I like hiding myself in here. The finish section is for advance people, some day I will get there.

Ropa>> Thanks bro! The comics is my baby, hope to do more. I wish I have more time to doodle and stuff for my baby.

    Peace!

hey man, this new batch looks great, all the figure drawings...lovin it. the one thing i think you're pencil concepts could use is a little more contrast though....those dark darks are so sparse in there, a few more would really bump it up. keep em comin

    Thank guys

Here are some digital stuff I've been scribble after work in the past couple of weeks.
Sketches are coming as soon as I have time to scan some.

Each takes between two to six hours or so.

Really great stuff. The oils are cool, just keep doing them. The digital stuff is also nice, and the graphite drawings are great, very economic! Best of luck to you.

NOIIIIIICE!!! Hey man you showing up to sketch group on Saturday or what? If Cake can make it out, and I can drive my ass down from Whidbey you can hang too man I'm seeing some new directions with your work as well.. looks like a bit of Feng, James Z and possibly some Cake in your creatures? It'll be interresting to see where this leads, it's very different than your older work.

    Hi Xia,

long time no see. There´s quite a lot of stuff I really like. Especially your sketchbook pages with the value-studies are adorable and you´ve got some nice character-designs going on - even if it´s not always the style I personally prefer. I think even if you think your studies are crap they show a good amount of valuework (hope I make myself understandable). Some pieces I like less

    http://www.angelfire.com/wa2/xia/ima...ainting128.jpg
    http://www.angelfire.com/wa2/xia/ima...usParamour.jpg etc.

I think one of your weaknesses - regarding the quality of work you´re showing elsewhere - is composition (tell me about it ... just have to look at my own stuff ). Your characters seem often to be pasted into the environment and not interacting. I´m prone to this, too because I like characterwork most and only do enviros when I´m forced to . Don´t know how to help you here - as I´ve told I´ve got quite similar problems but maybe my comment could help you anyway.

Good stuff overall and I really see your improvement.
Hope to see again more from you in the future

you know you're good.i know it too.nevertheless your figures seem stiff at times.speedpainting127 especially proves that.
good work on the first few pages though...really pops.

Sayyy you've been busy! It's been a while dude... now that yer game's out are things a lil more laid back? congratulations btw.

You're pushing of your boundaries is making for great results - you've got the line work now putting in the values is making it much stronger. That first batch of toned sketch pages kickes ass (Along with the rest!). I'm going to second cburt by saying you could push the range more, also with the creatures you might want to check out some skin textures like elephant or rhino skin to make those wrinkly dudes look even more -- wrinkled.

Anyways nice work bro, you make me feel lazy as shit
