Don't worry dude, they're made of all plastic and rubber parts. I'm really starting to dig hardware design. Thanks for noticing.
i realy love the amount of detail you put on your sculpt !
amazing !

oh shit, i ve been a big fan of you and your bro's work for a long time. awesome work. can t wait to see more.
Oh man, it's been a long time since I've been on a forum with some Shiflett stuff on it. I love yall's work![]()
wow! great stuff.... how do you go about making an armature?
Our armatures are aluminum wire wrapped with floral wire (tiny wire wrapped in cloth). We make a circle out of the aluminum wire for the base or just sink the two leg wires into a piece of wood. We use a lot of super glue where we wrap the piece together with the floral wire.
I make arms and legs a little longer than I think I need, because its always easier to shorten them rather than lengthen them.

I really really like the last one.![]()

I like them all. You guys going model kit with these when you finish them up?
Wicked as hell. Original characters rock.

Great work here Brandon. I bought my first load of Sculpey the other day, and don't know why I didn't get into it sooner. It's the mutt's nuts.
keep posting!
these are incredible sculpts, I really dig the proportions of your gals, the chunky thighs and just all around bad-ass-ness of them. Seriously they are fantastic. The top one reminds me of when I dressed as tank girl for halloween, heh. Did you do sketches for these? cause I would love to see them if you did.
Anyways, brillant work, i'm totally inspired.
Thanks or sharing!

I really appreciate it.I'm going to try to get better pics of these things.
I don't do drawings first because I just suck at drawing and it would be pointless. Plus, I'm pretty much just making them up as I go.
Thanks again
Brandon
howd you do those mechanical parts. you need to right a tutorial on machinery. ttyl. o and great job

saw your question on the newbie post cool board thread but it kept signing me off when I'd try to reply.
We Love to use Floral Wire as supports for everything, weapons, hands ,fingers, and superglue to keep everything extremely secure.
Brandon has added all kinds of little bits and things to these girls, look for something called Mod Podge, this stuff is like super thick paint and its fun to make things look like they blend together , and even to add detail to stuff.
Mechanical stuff is a bi-otch, I avoid straight lines like the plague and likenesses, and really try to sculpt just organic stuff. Brandon does more sci- fi stuff so its kinda cyber goth feel and does incorporate more straight edges.

Always enjoyed your work, and these pieces kick ass too... Glad you decided to come over here and start posting![]()
Super sculpy? that is crazy, i can't manipulate that stuff to save my life. Your stuff is freakin awesome!!
This is some wicked detailed material. Very nice.
I've been experimenting with polymer clays here and there in the passed couple years. Do you mix different types of sculpey to strengthen the material.
Do you plan on painting this piece? Airbrush?
Sculpey recently came out with a new formula which cures into a rubbery material instead of the usual ceramic hardness. Heard of it?
Great looking sculpts you got there Brandon!
Brandon,
I gotta dumb question do you guys add premo clay or other colors of clay to the SS. I've tried it once and it just made my SS softer. It was really elastic! Can you suggest a good alternative clay that will maybe firm it up!
Thanks![]()
...CHeers...been following your work for years..welcome to the forum

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.

I'm ordering the gray sculpting compound (gray Super Sculpey) from MidwestClay.com now. I really like it. Its the perfect color and feel for me. But everybody is a little bit different when it comes to their clay. Jarrod still mixes Super Sculpey with either Fimo Soft or Premo.
The great Japanese sculptor Kiya taught us to sculpt in gray as opposed to the pink because the pink is a little translucent and you can miss small knicks and imperfections that are more exposed in the flat gray color.
Good luck my brothers and sisters!
Brandon
You mentioned earlier that your using plastic & foam for the guns- how do you keep them from melting? And are those prefab wire buckles I see? Do tell! Thanks! Thanks!
Lots of platic, no foam yet though. I try to disconnect the big plastic/rubber pieces before baking. But for the plastic that stays on, I just bake the thing at a really low temp "190 ish" and keep an eye on that bitch.
Metal wire squares from a craft store I will sculpt over but they hold the shape I want when while designing.
Thanks for the interest.

Wow - I'm in awe man, those are really intense, i love the detail. They kinda remind me of some of my own female drawings.... I'll post some up in the sketch book forum sometime soon. Gotta batch scan some stuff.
Anyway - I'm about to go check out the rest of your stuff. keep up the good work.
