    Motion in Poses

Here is a question that has been bugging me for a bit now. When I try and do sketches out of my head, I have an idea of the pose that I want, but it always ends up looking static. Right now I am using Loomis's manakin and try to get the action right. But, I can never get that sense of movement. Are their general tips anyone can give me to help me put more life into these sketches? You can check my sketchbook and see what I mean if you want.

    Thanks

Anyone out their? I am sure that someone must know some tricks, considering all the great artists out there.

i'm certainly not a great artist, but check out "Dynamic figure drawing" by burne Hogarth. That book is made for the purpose you mentioned. and the author is the guy who drew tarzan so he's certainly qualified. Only problem is that his figures are his "Ideals" so they look more like action figures than real humans, but you get used to it. HIs writing though, is extremely confusing, but since the book is mainly pictures, you'll get through...

Thanks I'll check it out for sure. I don't mind if they look like action figures, I am mmore interested in the position of limbs and such instead of how they look.

    Thanks again
