    Thanks guys!

I took part in the massive self portrait orgy on the 1st of the month, so I figured I'd post my entry here as well.

Great pumpkin!! And your emoticons are sooo funny [/saves]

Although it's old, I still think this one has soo much charisma. You've improved sooo much since then too. It's crazy It's also good to see you're jumping from one thing to another - trying out lots of styles and media. Nice one

    Keep up the shocking pace,

Carnifex: Thanks for the frequent comments, man! I agree that the third one is the closest resemblance to me.

Sapphire: I used photos a bit for reference on the top two, but did the bottom two from imagination. It's funny, I never think that photos of myself look that much like me, and the one I don't use any photos for ends up resembling me the most. I guess I was right!

blacky: Thanks! Glad you liked the thumb, I'm so pumped for Guitar Hero 2!

Quicksilver: Thanks! I sometimes lose track of the fact that I am improving. I always feel like I'm slacking with my art because I'm only doing stuff I enjoy and it never feels like work, so it doesn't feel like I should be getting better. But that's usually when I do my most improvement, when I'm having fun with it.

Tex - Funny that the one person who's seen me first thing in the morning picks the 4th image as me. See you in SF man!

Steph - I had no idea I could sculpt either! Outside of modelling on the computer, my experience with 3D media pretty much extends to sitting around watching Smellybug do his thing at the last San Fran workshop.

Just doodling with a soft-edge brush. I use these pretty rarely, so it's neat to see the effects you can get with them.

I have no idea what this picture is of exactly, but it reminds me of those photos of fetuses inside the womb. But instead of a fetus, Lovecraftian horror!

I got back from the workshop feeling inspired. Not so much inspired to do art this time, but inspired to move on with my life and career. I don't know exactly where I'm going with it, but step one was to tear down my awful portfolio website I made three years ago (and it showed), and replace it with something I wasn't embarrassed of!

    Go check it out!
    http://www.whereismyeyeball.com

I finally got around to learning HTML and a bit of CSS and coded it by hand this time around, rather than using Frontpage. I did this in the four days between getting back from the workshop and Christmas Eve.

Please, let me know what you think! I'd also like to hear what you think about the pieces I decided to include on the site. Anything you see in this thread you think should have been included or anything on the site you think should've been left out?

Hehehe, thanks for posting Head Shark, Ned.

I started a new project of sorts, just to give myself an excuse to draw. I'm designing a series of characters called 19 Legends of Kung Fu. I have no idea how many I'll do before I get bored and move onto something else, but 19 seemed like a reasonable number.

Elephant uses a rare style of kung fu which focues on channeling energy downward into the Earth. It's been said he can crush stone and cause massive earthquakes with just the stomp of a foot. He also has skin so tough it can withstand all but the sharpest blade. Ironically, his memory is terrible.

My very first vector art (more or less)! This was done entirely with vectors and layer effects. Although I found working with vectors pretty hard, there was a certain joy in it. I'd definitely like to try a more fully featured vector program than Photoshop.

Was that gunship and bathysuit done using a photomontage + paint method? They really turned out fantastic! And I agree with Steph...Emo Banana *needs* to be a shirt!

Thanks Fuki! Yes, I did use a photomontage + paint method for the ship and suit. I created a bunch of custom brushes out of bits of photos and use those to find interesting shapes and silhouettes and whatnot. I used the same method for the next few images I'm posting.

I already posted these in Finally Finished, but I figured I might as well post them here as well. The world famous Steampunk Star Wars series, as seen on the top ten at digg and Boing Boing!

    Han Solo & Mr. Chewbacca

Han Solo is a notorious gambler, con artist and smuggler. Mr. Chewbacca is his Wookiee partner in crime. The duo is wanted by both the Empire and a number of underworld crime lords, but they manage to stay one step ahead of their pursuers thanks to their ship, the Millennium Falcon, said to be the fastest ship in the galaxy. Solo is also known for his quick draw with a pistol. He boasts that of all the men he's shot, not a single one was able to shoot first.

    Lord Vader

More machine than man, Vader is the Empire's most decorated General and a very powerful practitioner of the Force's dark arts. He is obsessed with communicating with the spirits of the dead, spending every sleepless night trying in vain to contact his lost love. Twisted and broken in body and mind, Vader is driven with sadistic passion.

He is a master with the traditional weapon of Force champions, the Phlogisticated Aether Torch, more commonly referred to as the phlogisabre.

    Jabba the Hutt

Jabba the Hutt is the ruler of the desert planet Tattooine. Formerly an underworld crime boss, Jabba took the throne in a bloody coup. It's rumoured during the coup he was being supplied weapons by the Empire, but once in power he turned his back on them and continued his illegal activities with far more power and wealth than he could have ever amassed in the underworld.

Jabba is a model of opulence and excess. His corpulence is the physical embodiment of all seven mortal sins. He dresses only in fine Sarlacc silks, regularly partakes in feasts of rare and endangered animals such as the giant Krayt Dragon, and has a harem of concubines representing every humanoid species known in the galaxy.

I made these for Valentine's Day and forgot to post them up here too.

This was mostly just a catch-up post. But I've got new stuff coming soon!
