    Thumbs down 女人是祸是福?

these are digital painting with Painter 8...
the first took about 5 hours and the second about 8 to finish... most of the time was spent on repainting until I get the shades right...

    {hahahaha...deleted some text here... no offend lah!}

love the texture work around the torso in the first pic. is that entirely digital or did you do some traditional stuff and scan it in/touch it up?

i'm not entirely a big fan of the colour comp in the first one. the red is coming forward at 2 spots (around abdomen and the 'shadow' at her feet) and i'm confused from the hue contrast where my eye should go. quick colour comps first will help a ton as far as organizing the information in a piece.

also, your highest value contrasts are at her hair vs the background, her eyes, and the string on her shoes, and at her pelvis. so my eye is bouncing around alot. I would say lower the contrast using a gradient from her feet to her dress. right now the legs/feet are pulling my eyes out of the pic too much, imho.

love the lighting on her face though...good definition of the facets of the face. and good job on the merging shapes in her hair.

    keep it up.

Hi, I agree with ApolloNuevo. The color you are using is a little bit random. Although I really like the background in the first piece, the overall weight between character and background is not balanced. My eyes are always attracted to the background. I think if the character's body can reflect the color from the background, it will make the character deeper. That's just my opinion, what do you think?

    Hey southerncomfort,
wow, i really dont know whats the topic saying? 女人是祸是福?

But, well, its a drawing, and i love to look at drawings.
I love ur style, really cool. The faces are great, its the only part in your drawing that i can say i acnt comment on!. Its jus great. You backgrounds are nice, each one gives me a differnt feeling.

The one drawing, the girl in the red background, which seems to have wings, or those fether like things beside here. Its really nice, again the face is good, but the shoulders and legs have some probs. The Leg is completely out of place, and shoulders start from upper area of the neck. Although her head is down, but still the shoulders are not right.

DO some studies on tights, hands and do some figures, some movements studies.
Anyways, i love your style. Great.
    post more,

EDIT: I also looked at your website. its jsut awsome. Really, realy cool stuff man. I wish i had a studio like u . haha, anyway, looks great.
How old are u dude or dudet?

    the topic means:
(translation taken with some liberties, sounds better this way)
    are women angels or demons?
true translation: are women disasters or treasures\

southerncomfort - I can't stand your attitude. This is an English speaking website, and YOU are the one that is a "老外" here. The Chinese are not the most important race in the world, and China is not the center of the universe. Get that ridiculous hubris out of your head and try to be just a normal member of the global village. You make the Chinese look very bad when you behave like this.

    Herr herrr...
Painted and rendered in Painter 7, one painting tool that I have always enjoyed using, more than the later version. But I am not too sure about version 9, which is said to be the fastest painting tool. I am determined to try, but not until I have saved enough to get the software...

Chinese mythology has always intrigued me ever since my childhood. The cunning Fox Spirit always has her way in trickery. She simply steals from everyone, anyone, anytime, and anywhere! She steals for her selfish collection, just to satisfy her greed, which cannot be satiated.

This piece tool me almost 5 hours, but about 1 and a half hour was spent
    meddling with the painting tool.

    Hey southerncomfort,

this is really great dude. like always.
the size of the head is alittle big, and u've got to add a little more shadows so it will looks like more 3Dimensional. And i would suggest to add a tatto.
Hey, do u teach Painter? lolz

    really, really nice.
