A quick(ish) hand study. What did I do wrong?

It looks like your wrist is a bit too small in diameter.
Also, the palm area that is showing near the webbing between your thumb and pointer finger should be reduced. It appears as if you have majorly chubby palms or that you are pushing down on a surface.
Quick scan of the rest and it looks good.
Perhaps develop a habit of pushing your value contrast more to define compound form and their form changes.
Cheers.

hey all...
in the upcoming month, i'll begin posting my hand anatomy studies for a hand atlas for a hospital out in baltimore, md.
i thought i could jump right in and start drawing these complex medical illustrations based on my background of interning at the indiana hand center back in grad school as well as having several years of experience beyond that, but unfortunately that is not the case.
i got a bit gun shy and realized i needed to go back and do some research. so...what i'm doing right now is reading a book on hand anatomy that is for surgeons and residents/fellows of this field. a bit daunting, but then again, once you understand the anatomy, knowing the surface topography and proper sizes/shapes, movements, etc. is a lot easier.
stay posted....i'll be back with more. i hope that my discoveries will aid you in your studies via my renderings. but if not, then grab a good anatomy book and start learning those components of the hand.
cheers,
d
