I know the T3/TD4 contest was unusual. But the fact that Jason, Andrew and others went out of thier way to set this opportunity up for us should have had a plethora of artists jumping at the bit. The point was, to take something familiar, use your creativity and make it new, (which I think is a very important aspect of concept art). If this were a new game we were working on and we needed new creatures, characters, machines, environments, etc, we would have to be creative and come up with new stuff, yeah?
I know most of us do it for fun, but compared with the other 'dome contests, this one isn't much different; we still have guidelines. It just had the added benefit of actually getting something out of it rather than just cranking out the work.
Can't wait for the next one, regardless of the theme.
