It's a must! Also see City of Lost Children and (another must) Delicatessen (same author - Jean-Piere Jeunet)
Other kick-ass soundrack - Trois couleurs: Blue (it's a trilogy - Red, White& Blue) - by Kieslowski.

I love the Amelie soundtrack... hmm I think I'll check the ither soundtracks you've mentioned. =)
*Lurker mode off*
Amelie hits me like no other movie. Every time I saw it I walked out of the theater with biggest, silliest grin on my face, people probably thought I was trippin'![]()
I love the soundtrack, it's some of the best drawing/working/driving/BARTing music I have.
Though I have to say, I bought another album by Yann Tiersen, the italian composer who wrote and performed the music, and I was really disappointed. It had several songs from the Amelie soundtrack on it, only with this total cheez wiz vocal track inserted over them. Totally ruined the atmosphere. I think it was his latest album. Has anyone heard any of his earlier stuff that's worth checking out? Or other composers along the same vein as the Amelie soundtrack? I really want to expand my collection in that direction...
*K, Lurker mode back on*
Keyth, check out The Shawshank Redemption soundtrack its good.
I've just bought that Amelie CD. It's really amazing...
I can compare Amelie OST only with one thing... The Dancer in the Dark OST... There were less songs (~7) but Bjork surely knows how to make music... Does anybody have this one?
It's a bit offtopic - but since you broght it up - check Lars Von Trier's movie called "Breaking the waves". (still Dogma 95) and also see what he was doing before that (Europa). If he waren't a comunist I would like this guy more.
Other kick ass soundtraks - 13-Warrior (yes), all of Harry Gregson Williams (The Rock, SpyGame, MetalGearSolid2 -this one!!!) and speaking of games check I-War soundtrack (it's on theyr site) - I-War (first one - also if you get the chance to see that intro... i full cd - blowed me away at that time).
Outcast (the game) also has GREAT soundtrack - Moskow Philarmonic Orchestra (still on their site).
And now that you've started me - check MechWarior2 (and mercenaries), Official Quake add-ons (there was a cool guy working for Activision an the time).
Ye. Bjork rules sometimes.
vudu: yes the DintheD soundtrack is also a winner.
Oblio: you must first warn the people about "breaking the waves". people, if you see this movie...prepare to be emotionally destroyed. it is a great film...but oh, is it depressing.
