    Lightbulb Video tutorials :!:

It was mentionned earlyer in this corner of forums that a few of us have video tutorials ranging from using an app to basic modeling in x packages. It's a great resource to see how other people are working.
It would be cool to centralise links to those videos or the websites of gurus you know of.
So if you have some, share 'em and lead the way !

    Re: Sculpting Videos

    Hello Egerie,
This is a fellow I came across who has several videos out. Although I personally have not bought one yet the site looks pretty good.
    Good luck

just got this video called MARK ALFREY SCULPTS THE HUMAN HEAD WITH **PRO-CLAY**

I just wanted to recommend it to you guys. The way he approches making the head completley transfers over to how you make a head in 3d. I highly recommend this dvd.

Heres one I just finished last night

In this video I go over the basics of using zbrush 2. Starting with making a rough model out of zspheres, then editing it in zbrush with the various paint deformation tools. I then move the model into max where I make a low poly cage and demonstrate Max 7's new render to texture feature to get a normal map and a lighting map.

    Heres a video I made

I never have the patience to watch 3d video tutorials, so I render them out at 1000x speed. Only the head (part 2) is available for download until I get permission from hawkprey to show part one where I used his drawing as a guide.

dudes, i just got back into 3DS MAX after like months of not using it..just didn't have the time to use it since i had school... but yeah..i've forgotten half of what i know about using this program and i am having a huge pain in my ass with it.
ESPECIALLY with UVW unwrap and the rest of the mapping crap.

so yeah lighten me up with a VERY VERY GOOD AND SIMPLE AND VERY SPECIFICLY EXPLANTIVE TUTORIAL ON HOW TO UVW MAP a model the FASTEST way...i've seen a bunch of really shitty tutorials and the dudes say it takes a couple hours to completely map a model with all the textures...i want to at least be able to map my models in at least 30 minutes...not longer than an hour...
most of the tutorials i've seen talk so much crap and are never straight to the damn point...i've searched google's entire list of finds and can't find a good "to the point" tutorial...i'm sure most of you guys had a real pain with uvw mapping...

(EDIT) also...just in case you were wondering...the tutorials in my 3ds max program don't work for some stupid reason...

I would have to say that 3DTotal has a great tutorial base. I use Maya now so another site would be www.learningmaya.com and www.highend3d.com.

Oh another good site is www.3D-Palace.com they have really goo video tutorials including one that shows a workflow for ZBrush and 3DSMAX 7 normal mapping!

just use max 8 with pelt mapping and relax and you'll unwrap a char in 30 minutes, that took me nearly as long as modelling in the past but now it's fast as hell, there texture artists just can't texture as fast as i'm pushing out the models, thanks to peltmapping

Thanks a lot for all of the great links guys! I was just curious, is texture mapping characters difficult? Or at least creating the maps? I have only introductory experience with Maya and I'm looking into this job where they at least would like their artists to have some texturing skills. I can paint in Photoshop and have a pretty deep understanding of the program. But I can't find anything straight and to the point online on how to go about step by step texturing a character. For example, say I wanted to create a shirt. Thanks for any help you can give me. I'm trying to get my foot in the door somewhere and if I could just have a bit more knowledge it probably would help. Thanks again!

Here's a really good DVD, and it's very inexpensive...

    http://www.moviefxmag.com/master_class_1.html

Over 3 hours of Special Effects lessons and demonstrations for only $19.95!

It's a DVD with Step-by-step Video showing how to sculpt a Maquette,

    Half Mask,

    and a Full-Head Mask.

There are also tutorials showing how to paint with an Airbrush,

    Make Teeth and Fangs,

& How to create a Headcast!

There is also a tutorial showing a Prosthetic Application.

It's a great way to get started as a beginner,
without spending a fortune on schooling!
