But of course, it is my name so i expect you to! I am studying design and illustration.

And i meant quit this little challenge i set for myself, nothing else (although in no way should i make light of how sad i would be if i quit so easily). Cheers for that Daniel very cool of you to come and kick me up the arse dude!

Ok i know that this is really a very ridiculous thing to post (i had planned to do more but then the night got away from me) but it was really cool to do on the train trip to school. Ive been posting my drawing to mr phoenix's lessons and it was awesome to find out that i could put his plans for the foot together to draw a 3d version of it. It felt good to be able to put it into practice. A very very small drawing but a huge step in my thinking and visualising ability.

Hey, its great to see how much work you're putting in here! And Stargate rocks!

I'm no pro but hopefully its ok if I offer some suggestions that might help, as they helped me out quite a bit. The first thing I noticed is that in most of your faces the features are skewed a bit. The one eye is higher than the other, or the nose sits crooked, remember that the features line up in perspective. I find that it helps to draw the angle of the eyes to make sure they are lined up properly. Then just keep the nose and mouth features lined up with that line. If that makes sense...if not I can show ya what I mean.

Proportion is another thing that I noticed, it would help out to focus a few days on just trying to get the proportions of the face down. They're a pain but it will help everything fit in place nicely. For example the whole eye width thing...where the eyes should be about one eye apart. Guidelines like that are a good thing to understand so you can use them to quickly check your proportions.

Anyway you're on your way, and drawing as much as you do is the best way to learn. So keep it up man, you'll just keep on improving!

    Icon day: 57 - Acrylic painting - 3 paintings in 2 days!

retardedmonkey YOu absolutely rock man! Come in here and tear my stuff apart anytime you want man! That's why i put it up and i really appreciate it. I will try and keep those things in mind from now on i promise.

Mow for today and tomorrow i need to finish 3 paintings for my monday afternoon class - which is just crazy!

So here are the colour roughs for the paintings. I will post stuff as i go along during the weekend! If anyone is confident in their colour theory and knows how to use acrylics (i am using Matisse Derivan Flow) please leave some C&C!

    let's get to this!

Hey there, mate. The drawing of those paintings look pretty good, but the values/color is all off.

The values are not explaining the form of those objects well enough. It all looks a bit flat. Also your colors are too saturate, and not unified in any way. This gives it a but of a coloring book look, like it was done with crayons. The quickest way to fix these things is with a quick glaze over the whole thing. It will unify the color palette, and solidify the values. At that point you can start pulling out the highlights again.

Hope that helps! Either way I'm sure you'll be improving heaps if you're working daily.

quackart- yeah man i was a little but it was all good! Like you said if i make the rest (or even if i don't because i am enjoying this challenge and getting a lot out of it) then it's all good!
I.- yeah man i liked that one the best as well. I think though i was happy with them for about 5 minutes and now i just want to either re-do them or see if i can improve them, which brings me to...
Sublimus- thanks heaps man for dropping by and answering my call for some help with acrylics. the glaze is definitely something i did in the paintings at different stages, but the main reason i did not do it at the final stage (other then i simply ran out of time before they were due) is because the earlier attempts i just did not think i was doing them right. The paint got this foamy feel to it when i tried it and it was muddying things up even though i thought i was giving them plenty of time to dry. I really REALLY want to do what you say though. I think i will have to work with my teacher extra hard to try this out because despite the problems i encountered i actually really liked working with acrylics. Thanks again dude!

some faces i did on the train on the way home.
