Anybody in the immediate Toronto area looking to get together as a group for sketching, lifedrawing or just discussions? It would be great to get a little group going where we can help mentor each other and be a ready source of inspiration and motiation.

As for life drawing, I usually hit the open life drawing sessions at the Toronto School of Art on Friday nights.

I'm from good' ol' Rochester, across the lake. If they ever get the goddamned ferry up and running, and knock the ticket prices down to something less than like $50 a person, then maybe I'll stop up there sometime.

Man, I dunno how much news coverage that thing is getting up there, but it is the biggest debacle EVER over here. That's all the local news is talking about. What's gonna happen next with the freakin' ferry. I mean, the thing went bankrupt in a matter of months. How in hell do they intend to actually make a profit on the thing? I know there's not a line forming at the toronto dock, of people itching to come over here. Believe you me, there's NOTHING to do here.

I'm in Markham. Depending on when if and where you guys get together, I might be able to join in. I think it would help a lot, especially if oyu guys could give me pointers and advice in person.

oakville represent, attending sheridan college right now. I think i started an ontario thread a while back but its too general i guess, got lost in the abyss of old threads!

we should set up a toronto meet, that would be cool and its pretty central. seems like most of you are within an hour of toronto so thats pretty good!!!

I'm totally up for it, I tried to set up something similar in art school, but didn't go, that's before the internet was big.

We have a few options for sketching .
Friday night ROM , wednesday night AGO or even Eaton centre .

Well, I should be able to make any of those, once school is over. It shuld be easy enough to subway around the city. I could possibly make friday nights while school is still taking place.

BTW, what is AGO?

Who else is interested, and can possibly make one of these times? Or maybe suggest another location/time

Whatever life drawing classes are available, I want to get in on too. I went to a weekly one when I was living in Ottawa but out here in Kananaskis, I have no such luck!

Every Saturday there is a life drawing session at a Place called sketch studios. It's a really nice little place to go, I go every week.

oh wow, I hadnt checked this thread out for a while, I thought it was dead for the longest time, heh boy was I wrong.

Well, I'm working quite a bit right now and am planning for an immenent move to another part of the city, but once I get all that sorted out I'd be up for some l;ife drawing sometime.

Has anyone gone to the Mississauga Valley school of art's open life drawing class on Monday nights. 7:00pm-10:00pm $7.00

I was thinking of trying it this coming Monday. Like i mentioned earlier,I used to go to the one at the Toronto school, but they lit the model from ten different angles so it got very frustarting at times. I was wondering if this place was any better.

I live in the toronto area and I go to a small studio called Artist 25. They have life drawing short poses, but I go for the long poses to paint from the model in oils. If anyone is interested email me and I will gladly give you directions to the studio.

Where is that sketch studio? Can you give the contact information?

It's at the corner of yonge and gerard, a couple of block from the eaton's centre. It isn't street level though, their is a restaurant or something underneath it. I can't find the phone number right now, but I'll take a look to try and find it.
