hey Xaya, great development. Form looks ok actually, overlappings can be used very powerful. The shading is very inconsistent. Work more on anatomy, because your arm and armpit is more creative anatomy but most important, WORK ON PROPORTIONS.

    no offense meant 8)

    keep up the great work

well this was really just a test,
    creating kind of mutant,
so it is without any human anatomy similarity...

Thanks for criticise... that´s the only thing i want... next to comments!

Proportions just in the last or at all?... tell me what especially!
The heads are still too large and i think i can´t go away too fast...

but you absolute right with anatomy darkside,
the last sketches with the naked man are done without
and my last anatomy study is way too far...

    much better.

some areas I saw on the first spot: head a tiny bit longer. sternum double the lenght(if I interpret your shading right), chest longer and wider too.
But I think this is your best figure drawing til now, keep up

awseome sketchbook, you drawing style reminds me very much of my own..
(wich is a good thing, i hope)

    crit:
you should try rendering with an h pencil, it seems your using leads that are a little to soft for the tigh rendering your doing.

also, you should brush up on your neck anatomy. the human machine by george bridgeman has some good diagrams on the neck that might help. and as mentioned before the porportions on your figure are a little strange.
    /crit

    fun stuff!

    thanks for listening.

@Darkside: thank you, good to know i make progress

@Chris King: thank you man, i just can see digital works from you
your homepage on deviantart doesn´t work currently!
Yes i think neck anatomy is next thing to do..
about proportions.... i have to take a closer look to know what you mean...
i also think that the hb mechanical pencil is too rough to do fine rendering

@pvpham: thank you, well i didn´t use much ref. currently,
but normally i get them from the web, looking through homepages of models and so on, magazines and from taking photos with my digicam...

    -Xaya

i hope i can do some finished work the next days...

this day had to be come!

i did some sketches on carton,

    i finally recognize my limits
have to study hand-connection, proportions.... perspective and so on and on

ok here another sb, worked about 40min on it,
the one-direction shading is surely not acceptable but ... too late!

    thank you TASart,
it´s all about concentration i my opinion,...
check the proportion, imagine the volume, move your hand...

Catch some books from the library today....
it´s time to study anatomy once again!!!

Wow Xaya, very much improvement. You worked on your rendering and your drawings have a lot more depth in them. Really great. Go on like that.

    da...DAA!

    next oil painting,
well it started as it could only happen me with a mistake...
i paint on wooden plate (chircio?!) with a universal vanish
didn´t add a extra vanish (gesso)
so i began painting... and noticed that white didn´t get absolutely white...
but at the end it works (it just have to dry a bit...)

ok this is another sb. with fixed lightsource (do it with a mirror)

just look your self... 1h so far:

what i offer her on my hand....

    lets see...

well here is a close up of my oil painting
i just want to ask if there is a possibility to get
the whole picture darker after i finished it...

here is the original (a bit more saturated here)

    and here tweaked with photoshop
    http://members.lycos.co.uk/xaya/ggg.jpg

Probably i just have to put darker colors on my strokes...
    but just for interest...?

Cool work so far. I like the way you draw faces - a little stylised but still realistic and well-rendered.

The new painting is turning out nicely too! Keep up the good work

    Thumbs up

nice work man keep it up! loving those oils! I think you could practice a bit more in anatomy, cause I think it's kinda faulty in some places. You're rendering is pretty neat aswell...

@MoP:thank you very much, yes i still have to study reality... although it isn´t my first and highest aim

@GriNGoLoCo: thank you too, well i love oil painting although i don´t know how to handle the preparations and the painting rightly....
    just experiments these days

you are right with my anatomy knowledge... still have to learn muscles
    and bones.... just everything....

buhh.. i can´t update today because i have to prepare a oral test
for tomorrow... so there is less time for painting!

    Where is god?

I worked on my painting last night, about 2 hours or so...
the result was....... it looks terrible!
No depth... no correct proportions, no right choice of color...
    it is ugly currently.
well i give it a try tonight... perhabs i can save it!

ok here some sketches i did last days...

all out of my head - 20 -30min

my nose; not really accurate and correct

just want you to look at such pages, they exist! not too llittle!!

i think i used some painting or drawing from loomis - 20min

    ref used

not finished yet, ...... i noticed that a 2H pencil is perfect for fine rendering

    Yes you are improving...
But dont darken your pictures so much...a brighter scan or higher kontrast could work nicely..(unless im stupid and youre using toned paper )

nice work.. but something that really bugs me is that your faces have absolutely no change in expression.. all the same dull look.. sorry, maybe that is harsh.. but I think it would help if you studied facial muscles and expression for a bit.. keep it up! Just tryin to help...
( I have the same problems too.. hehe )

@corky13: thank you man; i use my digicam for taking photos so i never will get a real white!

@jacobsteel: thank you very much, yes my third oil painting,
my main problem is it to get a useable ground where i can paint of....
i do something wrong everytime i start!

@teyekanik: merci, well of course it is not wonderful what you say,
but i am not here for to be praised but for improving my skills...
    so you absolutely right with what u said;
the thing is I like that thinking impression.... ok ok i try to learn that stuff (again)..... also because it is very very important... -look at Wes characters
    yes i got it!
