Always a pleasure to see your works, great rendering and characters.
I also know a classmate who really resembles your "Dakota", hehe.
Hope to see new works soon!

Woah, I have a site too! (Crappy multilanguage option implemented, and a tad old in the drawing field)
Man, love how you've managed the edges in the harbinger piece

I've finally started illustrations for DAKOTA RAWHIDE BOOK II.
Here are a couple teasers... I still haven't found the definitive cover image, so I'm not entirely sure where these stand in the grand scheme of things. You might notice a theme with these two though... Dakota's not really a happy camper! C'est la vie. We win some, we lose some. And some lose more than others.
I've been looking at a lot of photography, the more artsy kind, so I've been stealing a lot of photography techniques and ideas, and cinematography concepts, and sort of replicating them illustratively. Full circle I suppose since photography has been taking a lot from painting. It should be clear that I'm a huge fan of really grainy photos. They make me happy... even if Dakota isn't.
Okay, on with the show!
Okay! I hope you dig 'em. And hopefully folks aren't put off by having to read. Book II is longer than Book I, but less than a hundred pages! So it's really not that bad, but then reading is one of my preferred pastimes. At any rate, I will have a preview of the book up soon too, so y'all can gauge where you stand on the reading for pleasure deal
Cheers folks!

lighting! design! perspective! proportion!
And (self)motivation is still everything.
nice light forms to shadow.... slick pieces.![]()
Love the effect you've achieved with the grain and scratches. The first one is more personal, the second one is more direct.. I wouldn't be able to choose one. (For selling purposes, second works better I think)

mate, really enjoying what I'm seeing here. especially your pencil figures. good shit !
I LOVE that walkthrough you did of a Dakota rendering a while ago. Very inspiring and totally informative! I didn't realize that some of the techniques I was starting to use, and you execute them wonderfully!
As far as the latest pics, I agree about the first one being more personal, and I see more vulnerability there. But in the second one it looks like she's standing up again from the upset and ready to really fight. So cool!!!
It's been... a while.
I'm not sure what I've uploaded and what I haven't, so I'm just going to drop some ball point pen drawings in here. And a pencil sketch. They were done in my Moleskine Notebook. Forgetting the size... 5"x9" maybe? Sounds about right.
Cheers!

Hey, thanks everyone!
I've been having such a blast sketching recently. What a damn relief. For a while I just wasn't feeling it. A nasty catch 22: I wasn't enjoying sketching because I wasn't sketching for fun, and I didn't want to sketch for fun because I wasn't enjoying it. Anyway, I'm back on track.
I started this little oil portrait today. You may recognize it from the ball point pen study in my post above. She's my brother's girlfriend. It's from a photo I took of her when I visited them New York some time back. I love the photo and wanted to paint it. At any rate, this just the first sitting, so I'll be painting on it for at least another day. For now, this is a WIP:

what name of white pencil that you're doing lights on sketches?
Looking incredible. The way you use lighting in your work is very impressive, very dynamic and really helps bring the figure to life. Keep posting!
Good god man. i have never seen this sketchbook before. Showcasing some beautiful work.
