When your boss is just too much

Guys, the shotgun is being loaded as I write this lol.

Has it ever been too much? You know, work and your boss are becomming such a horrible element in your work life that it is spilling over into your relationship and even the desire to draw!

I always try to find the good side of things, you know the little silver lining which gives that tiny bit of hope but it is just not working anymore. And I keep thinking to myself how lucky I am to have a job etc but still it is simply becomming too much!

And it isn't the job which gets me it is the individuals involved, ethics, morals, etc to where I don't even want to make them money despite being the manager.

Anyone else been through this?

- yep - everyday I work at this place. I'm not a manager, but my job is kinda interesting, (NOT art related) but could be better if my manager was more responsible and organised. Try having a manager, you end up cleaning up after all the time, not good man. Either your boss is too pushy, or not pushy enough.
I have despaired many, many times, and resolved to just saying:
"Fuck-it. It pays my rent, bills, art equipment (and trips to workshops) - but I wont be here forever"

I prescribe skivving off work for a few days. 2 at most, say you got a tummy bug and puking all over the shop... Then sit down and paint....

I guess my situation stretches a little farther than the lazy manager, actually lol I dont mind picking up after people. See, I am the manager and it is those above me where the static is happening so I am the one who has to implement ideas etc.

The bigger problem is with school, I am in full time university and working 45+ hours a week. I have been given little to no support, last week I asked for help in covering some hours because my assistant manager was sick and the reply I got was "Sorry I am out of town for a wedding." this is just when they got back from vacation, and this is from both of the owners!

Don't get comfy in any situation that you are not comfortable in.
Most people don't quit their jobs when they are unhappy with the situation because they are so used to it.
It sounds like it might be time for you to move on Presence.
Change is good.

Yeah Phil I think that is the problem, I have become so used to this insane situation of working 12 hours a day then running to catch the end of class.
If it happens often enough it becomes normal, if you have to deal with certain individuals enough you become numb.

Someting I do is to look at everything around me. Then I ask myself some question about my goals in life. Mainly, how is this job helping me get to my future? If the job is not something you enjoy doing and you don't like the people you work with the decision gets pretty easy.

Try to take it easy this weekend. I mean it is your birthday!

I think that has been part of the fire under me in terms of taking a long hard look at the environment I am in. I want so much out of this life with the means to actually make it happen.

I hear ya on that, I'm a floor coordinator for Fedex, so I have 4 people who I'm responsible for to move 3,000+ packages in an hour. If things don't go right, I have 4 managers telling me the same thing the other manager just told me, it's like the movie Office Space. The managers don't have any communications with each other, so things never go as plan, and everyone starts pointing fingers at each other. I also get to hear a lot of complaints from everyone. I'm actually used to people always complaining so it's actually ok, but there's parts of me that says quit the job, but like most people you just can't, I have an apartment to pay for and bills that are due, so it's kinda like your stuck with the nightmares for awhile. I wake up every morning pushing myself to go to work. I remind myself the reason why. It took me almost 5 months before I landed a job with anyone, so I'm pretty much happy to have one at least. Just suck it up until the storm blows over, then you can quit with a loud outburst.... with no guns involve.

Happy 25th Birthday, damn I'm almost there, and I haven't done all the things I wanted to do yet.

SOK I am in the exact same situaiton too except I am in the middle of my film degree, if my grades go down hill my chances at a masters is gone! I have not even had the chance to go to classes so it puts me between a rock and a hard place.

I might have to go back to waitering again.

Waitering might be a good idea for you, I mean shit they make pretty decent tip, my younger bro deliver pizza and makes minimum wage, but damn he makes 800 dollars a month on tip alone, and that's not including his regular wages which is probably 500 a month, and that's only 30 hours a week, and he also works another job that pays him 300 a month. Boy makes more money than me.

I was pulling in about $1800 a month waitering easily and that was like your bro, only 30 hours a week which was great because I worked until about 2am but I had the ENTIRE day to myself. I am good to go on 6 hours sleep so it was perfect, but new management came into the restaurant and the manager had serious issues with male waiters so about 6 of us found ourselves stuck with 2 shifts a week to weed us out.

man im sorry about your situation, i know whats it like to be stuck in a situation like that . hell im getting out on something like that myself, not work just my whole route in life,( perhaps even heading back to collage next year to get my degree that was not there back in the 90,s, better than doing nothing ) just wondering are there state grants for your course etc, if its art based perhaps even a foundation support scheme etc. i take it your in america so i have not a jot of how things work over there. also any job where your left high and dry holding the baby like you are sounds i bit effy. time to type that CV and hand it out.
