This is something that I've been chipping away at for the last couple of days. I found some pics of pocket watches and liked the gears and mechanics so I decided to make something up.
I want to finish it up tomorrow, but I wanted some input on the lighting. This has proved to been the most frustrating part. I have some reference photos of reflections and such, but I'm still essentially having to make it up.
Some of the results that I'm getting are nice, but it takes alot of going in circles to get there. The middle piece is supposed to be flat(there will be some decorative details added) while the pieces surrounding it are to be beveled parts of the outer casing.
I think that I'm headed in the right direction. Any info on a quicker(easier) technique for rendering metal shapes with reflections would be most appreciated.
Thanks
